Thanks DLB, I'll try and wait patiently for CCCS phonecall now on the 17th. Already decided to go and get my new bank account sorted, d/d's etc, so at least I feel as though I'm starting on the right track. I've been talking through DMP with my hubby, and he's worrying me about debt collectors coming and knocking on our door, My creditors are Hsbc, Tesco, Northern Rock, M&S and MBNA (i understand from previous posts that MBNA can be difficult!)
Is it likely that we'll have people knocking at our door?, I think I'll be strong enough to cope with phonecalls and letters, but really worried about people coming to the door! Finally brave enough to deal with my debts!CCCS DMP - 1.4.2009Couldn't have done it without the guys on the DMP Mutual Support Thread.:T :T :T :TDMP Support Member 2550 -
Iv never had anyone knock at door...and you know why...every comapny in the land know that once your with a dmp that the courts will see you have faced up to you debts and are dealing with them so will not take action and cant take what you havent got...its hard at first the worry the stress it all goes within a few months of starting out on your dmp journey!
My hubby was the same..paniced like mad over it...and now raves about its the best thing we ever did!
The journey makes you stronger, this site makes you informated of your rights, and you make a difference to you life.
Well done you
Donna

Hello, a while since I posted. DMP with payplan has been running since december. I was expecting trouble form some companies such as citibank an MBNA, but of all of them they have ben good as gold. I do have a question though, myfinances are still all over the place, we have had pay rises, but some of my costs have gone up through no fault of my own. I don't want to reduce my payments, but I am worried that longer term I wont manage. Is there a level of monthly payments below which you can no longer do a DMP? I hope it doesnt come to that, maximising income, negotiating with mortgage companies etc.unsecured Debts at [strike]August 2007 £79,984[/strike] September £79,579 [STRIKE]Snowballing date July 2013[/STRIKE].
May 2009, £76,772 unsecured debts
DMP started Dec 2008, End date at start 2133!0 -
Talking about fee paying Debt managment companies, the Halifax tried to put me in contact with theirs today, despite knowing there's no way I can afford it:rolleyes:
I feel like i've wasted my time with all the letters, phone calls and sending budgets etc in.Do they never ever read them?

Thanks for getting back to me. I have done the debt remedy on CCCS and it offered IVA and DMP, the only reason that I contacted payplan was because it was such a long time before I could get to speak to anyone at CCCS, that I got inpatient as just want to crack on with it now! I see that you start on the 1/3/09 with CCCS, did it take you long from start to finish and did you contact Payplan aswell? Hope you don't mind me being nosey!
Hi massivedebts
You be as nosey as you like. I have asked loads of questions on here and many other forum members have given me loads of help especially DLB (she is wonderful)
I completed the debt remedy online with CCCS on about the 5th January - on the 9th February I received a letter from CCCS which had a creditor letter that I had to photocopy and fill in my details and forward to each of my creditors and also an agreement form instructing CCCS to act on my behalf. The creditor letter basically gives them your CCCS reference number and informs them that you are about to start a DMP.
When I signed up for the DMP I planned to start it 1st February but after discussing various things on this forum I decided to postpone it until 1st March and I also contact CCCS and increased my shopping budget by £20 per week.
After sending all my creditors a copy of the letter and token payments of £1 by postal order for the january payments I then sent statements of my debts to CCCS along with the signed agreement asking for them to deal with this on my behalf. This I forward to CCCS on 14th January with a covering letter asking them if I could start the DMP from 1st March 2009.
27th Jan received a welcome pack from CCCS - with details of plan and copy of income and expenditure. I was then able to log into my plan online.
With regards to payplan I didnt contact them as I wanted quick info at first and the debt remedy on CCCS gave me that - after completing that debt remedy online I had a good nights sleep, knowing that I was doing someting positive has definetly helped me cope with life a lot better and I will be forever grateful to everyone on this forum.
Hope all this info helps you on your journey to be debt free and if you want to ask any more questions please feel free. We are all happy to help.

Hi everyone hope you are all well. Just a bit of an update my DMP is going well best thing i've ever done getting used to counting every penny now and saying No if I simply can't afford it ( this was something i had a real problem with). Not been hassled much either and I had to lower my payment when it was reviewed. Just a question though and forgive my naivety but my phone contract is up soon and I have seen the sim only 30 day deals with texts etc for £10 - £15 per month would I be able to sign up for these does anyone know?0

Thats disgusting of the Halifax they sent me a letter telling me to get in touch with CCCS or Payplan.
But I guess everyones fighting for business so its no wonder they promote their own inhouse services.
DONT go with a fee paying plan - why pay someone when CCCS or Payplan can provide you with a great service and very helpful staff to advise you for FREE. I would rather use one of the free services and buy my christmas cards from a charity to give my bit back than pay some company who is supposedly trying to help you get out of debt - get their slice of your pie too.
Sorry for ranting - it makes my blood boil that all these companies want to earn more and more from you when they can see that you are having difficulties paying what you have already.
Good luck with your debt free journey - stay positive

I dont see why not but if in doubt ask your DMP company - you would probarbly be saving yourself money and if you are thinking of signing up with Vodafone - then make sure you go through www.quidco.com if you havent heard about quidco before - you can earn money back on your internet shopping. Currently Vodafone are on there and offering £60 cashback when you sign up for the £10 a month contract and I think £120 for the £15 per month contract - Minimum 12 months. Quidco will take £5 annual fee from any money you earn per year - have a quick read of their signing up details.
If you need any further help just ask.

I went for a virgin deal (as I'm a customer with virgin media) and got 300 mins and 300 text for 10 quid a month. No contract either.

The deals look like they've changed slightly though. Not sure on credit checks though as I did mine before the DMP started...DMP mutual support thread No: 2430
