Thank you Donna. I'm so scared of what will happen. I'm not even sure that we will be accepted for a DMP, do they have set criteria do you know? We've not missed a payment ever so the prospect of suddenly not paying what we should, seems really frightening, that's probably why I've been cashing in on the credit cards to avoid not being able to pay. Still enough is enough now and we really can't cope with anymore credit.
I'm so inspired by all the people on this thread, you all seem so confident and in control of everything.
Thanks for listeningFinally brave enough to deal with my debts!CCCS DMP - 1.4.2009Couldn't have done it without the guys on the DMP Mutual Support Thread.:T :T :T :TDMP Support Member 2550 -
I'm about to start my DMP with CCCS, first payment goes to them this month. Like you, I'd not missed any payments, was managing (heaven only knows how!!) to meet the minimum payments but then realised enough was enough and it was time to sort it as I felt it was getting out of control. Both CCCS and Payplan are there to help you sort out your situation.
Totally understand why you're scared and everything - I was and still am, to an extent. But I do feel much better now that I'm starting to deal with it. MBNA and Capital One have written to me confirming that they're accepting the reduced payment. I have had phone calls, but its gone quiet(er) since I actually spoke to them, but have just started getting automated "we want you to call us" calls from Halicarp but haven't pressed any button to continue - just pressed the green button to hang up! :rotfl:I'll speak to them when I'm good and ready, and I wasn't good and ready at that point!
Best of luck with it - I've no idea about set criteria with either of them I'm afraid, but hope they can help you.Smober since 05/12/2008 :j
Proud to be dealing with my debts! :idea:Final LBM (when I actually took the bull by the horns!) 30/12/2008

Hi
Thanks again for your responses. I shall wait for the 17th and will be back when I know what cccs can do for me (if anything!). Who knows, in a few months I may have my very own DMP number on this thread and sound almost as confident and in control as you guys!

It took about two and a half months for our calls to stop and I remember that it was a bit of a rough time, however that was over a year ago, now we just get the odd letter asking for an update.
The DMP has been the best thing for us and I can honestly say that we have never looked back since going onto it
it will get better, good luck;)0 -
Takes a while for calls to stop...but you know what you get to a point that you just dont care..because you know they cant have what you havent got.
It takes time to get to this point but as an old timmer (coming up to my 4th yr) you will get there, dmp`s and this board give you `power` to hold your head up high, know your not the only person in this position and enables you to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
And it maybe a long way off but its there spuring you on to a debt free life...not matter how much you owe..we all make mistakes have reasons for being in debt..but the one most important thing that matters is you have faced up to it and are dealing with it...hold your head high and ask any questions you want beacuse we are here to help and support.
I sometimes wish i could shout it from the rooftops that mse is the most helpful website ever...but iv had to settle for a car sticker instead!!!

Hi again everyone - it is so good reading your stories, makes me feel not so totally alone.
Our big news is that my dh has been offered a job! Contracts aren't signed yet so I'm trying not to get too excited but the offer is there. It is a massive paycut - from 52k down to 30k  but we just want to get through the recession - there are an awful lots of people in his field who can't find any work at all
Anyway I plugged in those numbers to the CCCS online plan thingie & it gave us a DMP with payments of £660 a month on a 9 year plan. That doesn't sound too bad to me - we're going to sell a car (dh won't be away so much with his new job) & offer some final settlements & do everything we can to increase our income & knock a few years off the DFD.
Obviously the 9 years depends on our creditors cooperating but at least we know we're doing everything we can.0 -
Hi,
I'm in the process of getting a DMP setup through CCCS and sending token payments to all creditors at the moment until plan is in place.
One small point I can't find answer to is where to send the payment for my LLoyds OD and Personal Loan.
I have the Brighton central address, but not sure if I should send token payment here or to the local branch.
You guys are a great source of support and any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jon
Hi Jon - If it helps, I sent my token payment for my Lloyds O/D and my Lloyds loan to the central Brighton address (as with all my other correspondence to them since then) and they got it ok.

Hi Jadia - hope all goes well for your oh's offer of a job. Deciding to go onto a DMP with CCCS is the best thing that I have done in a long long time. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted from me and I am now looking forward to the future.
Good luck with your DMP if you decide to go ahead.
