    Morning all

DLB - glad you enjoyed the concert - bet you were dancing all night werent you.

Quick question dlb - in one of your previous messages you have put:-
that you "buy potatoes in large bags (eg tescos £2.99 for a huge bag) this does us all week for mash, chips, roast, jackets, wedges, and when you peel the spuds slow cook the peelings and then throw in salt and vinager for yummy snack"

How do you actually cook the peelings is it in a pan of water or a slow cooker or oven - do you make crisp like snacks with them. My mum used to do something with the potatoe peelings and they turned out yummy like crisps - but I never asked her what she actually did with them. Sadly she is no longer with us to ask.

Yes i enjoyed the concert big time lol, didnt stop screaming and dancing all night ( not a cool site the kids have informed me since seeing the photos! dont think they like the fact there 31 yr old mum can still party!!!lol)

The potatoe peeling i place on a baking sheet and cook really slow in the oven until they crisp up, then thrown them in a bowl and salt & vinigar them...like crisps!!!

  • For the shopping idea. We do a shop once a month. We go to the butchers once a month and buy large packs of meat which we seperate into smaller bags when we get home. It is a lot cheaper then going to a supermarket and buying meat. Then we go to the supermarket and buy just what we need. This way it lasts us the whole month and we then just go and buy milk and bread when needed. I know that it might not work for everyone, but it works for us.

Hi everyone and welcome all newbies, lots going on over past few days.
Have been reading the shopping tips with interest, we are in the process of keeping a spending diary for the month for food, to try and get a grip on what we spend.
DH is awful for popping in the supermarket nearly every day for milk etc then coming out with loads of other stuff, so we are going to take from tips from you lot and do meal plans and just go to shops once a week.
I am also going to try the potato peelin crisps which sound yummy and much more fun than chucking them all in the bin!
    Take care everyone x:beer:

  • Hi everyone, especially all the (newer than me) newbies!!
Just reading the posts and wanted to say to Jadia, just remember that they can't have what you don't have. You have taken the first step of facing up to your debt and have already sorted out a new bank account :T I know it's scary but thats why we go on here to get support from other people in the same situation. I'm in the same position with a little equity in the house and at the moment making token payments (DMP to start 01/03) but nobody has mentioned going after that as at the end of the day you would still need somewhere to live (and after all isn't that the point of UNSECURED debts). Good luck, and hope you start feeling better about it all soonXXX

  • Hi
filled and filed my Q.A (N150) with my local county court today with the help of cab.

Any other information you consider will help the judge to manage the claim
I have sent the claimant various letters (recorded and tracked) no response.
phone calls to various departments no response.
I have never received any paper work from the claimant on this case.
I fail to understand how the claimant can change the account name and number and transfer the debt to my name without any consent wrtitten or otherwise.
I would ask you to dismiss the claim or ask the claimant to meet and discuss this as onn as possibe
    .....

I took my form to local county court office yesterday and was told it could be upto 6 weeks before i hear from the court.
will keep you upto speed as soon as i have information

    just a quickie ...
we did our food budget for the first time this month.
now, we are allowed £439 a month for the three of us. Today food purchases -£210 .. YES £220. Ok we didnt need many tinned items as we have a huge stock of them, plus dishwasher tablets and loo roles also were not included. Weve discovered so many nice "own brand" products out there we have literally managed to half our shopping budget and have a bottl eof wine to toast our new regieme.
£200 saved in the emergency pot already.

Secondly, Egg have once again written to us giveing me yet another last chance to bring the account arrears up to date.
We have sent them a nice letter referring them to our FnF offer as we have yet to recieve a response from them regarding our offer.
Mint sent us a letter saying they were defaulting the account ( at last !!!)

  • Hi again
I'm sorry to appear so dense with the following questions - I'm not normally honest! I feel like I'm in a big fog and can't think straight.

    1) Do we have to write to Lloyds where we have overdrafts to tell them about our DMP with a token payment? Or do we just leave those to CCCS? If so, do I send it to my local branch?

    2) I don't think my husband can cancel a DD (not sure) for his loan as it is with Lloyds where his account is. We will get his salary paid into new account and Lloyds will be up to OD limit - worried they will take money anyway and whack more charges on? Only worried about this as they are both Lloyds

    3) I'm being a chicken - we took a loan with AA and only made first payment this month (where they took insurance even though we cancelled it) so surely they will think it strange if I phone up asking for a statement?

Can't wait til this is sorted so I can think clearly again

Ok, ignore this one! I've phoned them and asked for a statement and their postal address to make a manual payment (didn't tell them it was going to be £1!!)

I have a nawest loan and a natwest current acc (with v, high o/d) i thought they automatically took the loan payment out and that it wasnt through a DD but when i checked my online list of DD's it was there so i've cancelled the DD instruction and by the time the payment is due most of my other priority DD's will have gone out so there will be nothing for them to take anyway, and having said that if there is no DD in place i dont see how they can try.

Evening everyone....what a amazing dmp day!!
I canceled my dd with current dmp company as have made the desision to go it alone if payplan dont take me on..but have had a email from payplan saying ill will be contacted within the week to sort out my paperwork they have recived.
So bit the bullet and phoned every single one of my creditors (8 in total that iv not dealt with direct for 3 yrs)..this was very scary almost felt the same as i did 3 yrs ago when i set out on my debt free journey.
But wow..they were ALL fantastic..i explained i was moving away from my fee charging dmp company..they all took the normal monthly payment over the phone and all agreeed to keep this as the normal repayment for the next 3-6 months, setting up dd`s for the next few months payments.
And 4 out of the 8 creditors offered me full and finals over the phone, i explained i couldnt take them up on that at this time, and all advised me to put the management fee i had been paying away and phone them when i had a few hundred put away as they maybe able to come to some agreeement for a settlement.
Feel so much better, i have already tranfersfered the fee i would have paid into high interest account and that is the start of my full and final fund...my hubby is so proud of me, and is treating me to a curry take away later ( from extra money he makes as a fa referee that i let him keep and is his own money for treats..although he spends it all on the kids and me!!)
So an amazing day here..hope you are all having a good day..and if not it will get better..im living proof of that!!
