Cheers Marfan i'm sure it wouldn't be a problem with my DMP as like you said it would be less per month. I think the problem would be when the phone company did a credit check on me which is obviousl shot too bits i'm just wondering how other DMP'ers have got on?0

I've just spoken to Payplan , as I couldn't wait for my CCCS appointment on the 17th, and now feeling a bit dispondent!! I explained that I really didn't want to go down the IVA route and ideally want a DMP, the guy was very nice and said he would call me back this evening, once he'd had a chance to assess, but told me about how on a DMP my unsecured debts could just become a secured debt if my creditors took me to court!! Feel really low now as my debt remedy on CCCS offered both choices, and after reading all the threads on this forum, I don't ever remember seeing anything about unsecured becoming secured debts on a DMP, did I miss understand him?
I'd appreciate any response and feeling really low now!
Thanks for your time
Charging orders will always be a risk unfortunately, but hopefully quite rare. There was a link to another thread regarding this, but cannot find it at present. A DMP is a gentleman's agreement, an IVA is not. And as such isn't an end to our problems, but a way of getting our lives back on track.DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
No one will knock at your door.. if they do and you have not been to court, tell them to go away. You are not obliged to open the door or let anyone in least of all pay them at the doorstep.
The only way they can enter yoru house is with the backing of the courts.
Just a note, make sure your doors and windows are locked because if they can gain access to your house without breaking and entering .. ie by using an open window or unlocked door, then they can value and take away.
If in doubt, keep them waiting and call the police.
No one has right of access to yoru house or the letter box on your property except Postie / Gas / Elec / water & emergency services. Even Phone companies I believe should ask for permission and you can refuse access.
They also cannot turn up in a big van with the words Debt collector or make their buisness known to any neighbours (data protection / confidentiality).
Long before people start to turn up to yoru door though, you would have corrispondence with a debt collection agency . it costs a lot to send someone out and they usually write or call to make an appointment. Just tell them that they have no right of access at that point and they will need to tak eit before a judge to make things formal.
This was our biggest worry but there are some good threads about this sort of thing if you look here

Just had a phone call from Payplan and they can accept my change over to them!!!
First payment to go out to them on the 1st of March so i dont have to do anything else...as iv paid all creditors this month and canceled fee paying dmp company and Payplan said iv done everything they would have advised me to do!!!
Just need to sign and send back the form which she said should be with me by the morning..and the 1st of march gives them plenty of time to get it up and running!!
Should have done this years ago instead of paying out thousands extra in fees!!!!
Feeling very happy this morning..hope you are all ok too!

Brill News DLB - Congratulations xxx Welcome to the none fee paying DMP club xx
I am about to make my february token payments just wanted to ask do you think it will be ok to make the payments online via my paypal top up card - I was thinking of doing it this way rather than postal order as I got charged 50p per postal order last time. Or I could do it via my cashminder account - any ideas on this anyone?

Marfan - one or two debt collection agencies have been a bit notorious for taking "extra" payments once they have your card details. However OH has dealt with at least one of those companies and they never did anything like that to him.
Personally when I made token payments I paid by cheque. I can't see how much information they could take from a cheque to then be able to sneakily take more money from you.
On the other hand, if you pay via post rather than online, you can make it clear with a letter that it is just token payment, whilst waiting for the DMP, so I'm not really sure what to suggestworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Thanks newlywed I think I may just pay over the post office counter then rather than by postal order or cheque. They are all aware of the DMP as I received letters this morning from CCCS saying that a few of them are not agreeing to the reduced payments and want a larger payment.
Thanks for the advice - the last thing I need is the blighters taking anymore of my money that I can afford.

Stick with it though, I had a few that told me they didn't accept the DMP payments - but accepted the actual money - and then after 3 months on the DMP stopped interest. I think some of them either don't believe you'll really do it, or end up just giving in and saying ok then (any judge in a CCJ application is likely to look favourably on you for doing a DMP and trying to sort it, so it's likely any CCJ they went for would only be set at that creditors share of your monthly DMP rate anyway - thus they would lose money actually going for court action)

Thanks newlywed.
I throughly intend to stick with it - they can phone me and write to me demanding more money but I am gonna stick with the DMP. I was going to pay one of the smaller creditors off in full this month but as they are a related to company 2 off the other creditors (all under the littlewoods umbrella) I have decided not too and it wont look good to my credit card companies either.
I am on benefits as I have a disability so I also intend to reclaim all my charges back too - not sure how to do this yet - but have been pointed in the right direction. Yesterday I sorted out all my DMP paperwork into an expanding file so that each creditor has its own section so that any letters etc I get can be kept organised and I have also this morning put an analysis sheet at the front of each creditor so that I can keep track of the balances and also it will highlight the charges etc that they put on my accounts and it will be easy to see from this paperwork just how much I need to reclaim rather than trying to sort through loads of statements and letters.
I fel much more positive about doing a DMP - after all I could have just gone bankrupt and according to the advise that I got they wouldnt have got anything.
Off to make a cuppa and some crumpets - not had my breakfast yet was feeling a bit sick this morning when I worke up - after seeing the mound of post through my door this morning and realising that my DMP has now begun its journey rather than feeling daunted I actually felt elated that I was actually facing this monster head on.:rotfl:

Hi everyone
Just wondered if anyone could give me a bit of reassurance. Been on my DMP about 6 months now and it all seems to be going reasonably smoothly but yesterday I received a text from Payplan informing me that RBS had passed our debt to a company called Incasso. They had already accepted the reduced payments and the debt was with their in house debt collectors - CMS - so does this mean things are likely to take a turn in that they will start applying for ccj's and charging orders?
I'm probably just whittling for nothing but hardly slept a wink last night worrying about it and I've lost my appetite which is never a good sign for me!
RBS is our biggest creditor and we owe them just over £31k so they are obviously going to want to get as much as they can out of us I'm just concerned as to how they intend on doing it.
Any words of reassurance would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.DMP MUTUAL SUPPORT THREAD MEMBER 220LBM - JUNE 2008DEBT FREE - JULY 2035DMP WITH PAYPLAN0
