  • Hi yummymummy - From reading past posts I think creditors tend to be a bit more reasonable when they get passed to a DCA - so I dont think you have anything to worry about - But I am sure someone with loads more knowledge will be along shortly to help you

    Good luck xxx

hi yummy mummy, my mint (rbs) debt (about £20k I think when I started) hasn't been passed on anywhere, they just defaulted me and carry on getting payments but...

I had GE Money accept reduced payments and then pass it on to debt collectors (CL Finance). The DCA just sent a statement each month saying continue paying what was already agreed ;)

Don't panic too much - when they passed on the debt they should have told the other company what payments had been agreed. I think they just don't want the paperwork long term and so pass it over for someone else to deal with.

Keep any info that rbs sent agreeing to the payments though and you can always quote that back at them if you get any problems ;)

  • Hi everyone,

phew, just got a letter from MBNA today telling me they will accept the CCCS plan and the lower repayment and freeze interest. I am so relieved, they are the biggest creditor at 10k. I hope the other will all follow suit. Maybe opening the mail won't be so scary in future!

Hows everyone else getting on starting out?

[strike]£36000[/strike] £0 on 4 cards and a personal loan. Debt Remedy. Signed with CCCS on 14/01/2009 started Feb 2009. Finished March 2016

Lessons learned and facing the struggle have made my life better than I ever thought it could be. Thank you Stepchange and DFW forum
  • Good news depressed_but_determined glad you have got MBNA onside.

I have received my eletric/gas bill finally via email its covering a 4 month period and is horrendous.
Good news though I have received a phone call from the benefits and they have adivsed me that I am entitled to the underlying carers allowance in my Income support so thats good news will mean I am better of by about £20 per week. However I wont actually receive anything until about March as they have a back log. Do you think I should tell CCCS now or wait until I am actually in receipt of it - ie money is coming in?

Any help most appreciated - gosh just when I think I have no more questions - I then have loads more - it just shows you we are always learning. :rotfl:

    marfan - I'd wait till I saw the actual money - but I'm a cynic ;)

You can always use it to build up an emergency fund or else to save for when you get close to full and finals ;)

    WOO HOO!!

i just received a call from Egg bank (they have received 2 letters and 2 £1 token payments) ...i bottled it and said i wasnt here.....then i sent copies of my letters requesting no telephone contact to them by email.

Then i sat for a bit and decided that i was strong enough to handle this and i called them, said i had received a message earlier today and was calling them back. The lady asked me to confirm my mobile and home number for security which i refused, she asked why, i told her that i had requested they be removed and i receive written contact only. She put me on hold for a moment, confirmed they had got my letter and would remove my phones numbers...RESULT...hopefully! I guess i might well get a few more calls but i've noted down her name the date and time etc......she also said there was no indication of whether my DMP would be accepted but they will contact me...i confirmed that this would of course be in writing!!!!:-)

Well done msc. Each time I ring CL Finance with a query they ask are you calling from your mobile? Do you have a mobile number for our records? - No. Do you have a work number for our records? No. Now can I ask the question that I rang up for? :p

    Hi YummyMummy,

In my experience it's much better once debts get passed to DCAs. I've had various of my debts passed to NCO, CL Finance (*4) and Aktiv Kapital.

They've all accepted payments and frozen interest. I've spoken to all 3 of them on the phone and they've not been a problem. Get a call from each of them roughly every 3 months which always results in them just asking me to carry on paying.

If only all my creditors were like them!

Thanks newlywed - do you think I need to advise CCCS of the increase in income when I actually start getting it - but say I will be using it to get someone to help me with my shopping etc so in effect in one hand out the other - and use some of it for help and some of it to save an emergency fund or for F&F - or do you think they will say no.

Dont want to be coming across as trying to diddle my creditors but at the end of the day it has been awarded to help me with the care I need - so do you think it would be fair of me to do this. and not say anthing to CCCS until my review (dont know when that will be ) ?

  • hi al, i have just finished the debt remedy with cccs and have to say before i even do anything i feel better! am actually shaking at the prospect of not struggling to pay rent on time etc. We have a debt free date of approx 6 yrs 9 months time, but cccs aim is to reduce our contractual payments from £605 we attempting to pay now to £298 so no wonder we never pay the rent. just bit nervous about getting it all organised though, sending out the letters to creditorsetc. Also planning to open new bank account this week and change dd's over then am scared bout cancelling creditors paayments, and worried how i can pay token payments til cccs set up. sorry for the waffle just bit overwhelmed
