well its been a few weeks of us not posting on here, but weve been keeping our head down and getting as much money put aside as possible.
DMP is now 4 months in and all creditors have accepted the payments.
Only one creditor has issues a default (Egg) and this was done immediatly upon us tellign them we were starting a DMP and sending them a token payment.
Just did the Experian credit check, and although our score was low (386 out of 999), we are only showing 1 default, and MBNA have logged 2 missed payments against us but the account is still marked as satisfactory.
To be honest, all our creditors have now stopped contacting us and the phone calls too have stopped. MBNA insist on texting hubby but a text can be ignored, and it means the house phone isnt ringing (incase the rest of our family finds out).
Our Debt Free Date is 2017, but after the expense of taxing both cars and renewing insurance in july, we are looking to beable to put around £2000 aside between then and Christmas.
Our Cash buffer has disappeared thanks to some urgent work that needed to be done to the house (boiler & plumbing) one month, Washing machine the next but on the bright side, we paid cash, managed to negotiate a discount on the labour rates and didnt use credit
Food shopping this week was a staggering £150, but most of that was re-stocking our "long term" items such as soap, toothpaste, loo rolls, cleaning products, Tinned Tomatoes / sweetcorn / Beetroot etc etc (items we had not purchased since our bulk purchase in January)LBM - Oct - 08 DMP Started - Feb -09

I've had a short delay.. but I'm back on the path now!!! FINALLY got to open a new account at the bank yesterday (cash card) so that I can transfer away from my overdraft.. I put the initial appointment request in 2 weeks ago, but the lady in the call centre got so distracted trying to sell me a premium account (which I had actually been advised against by a lady in the bank a week before that, when we were looking at alternative options...), I think she forgot to send the call-back fax off!!!
Have now managed to get the actual branch phone number out of them, as I got so much grief from the call centrethe next person I spoke to "confirmed" with me about 3 times that my OD was over the limit. yes, I realise that, but there's not much I can do about it!!
Anyway. Lovely bank have set up my bank account. So my next moves are:
cancel DD's to non-priority people
transfer DD's of priority people (mortgage etc) to new account
transfer some money into new account
send off letters to creditors and forms back to CCCS
I have questions!
my plan was to look at the budget that CCCS drew up for me, add up all the groceries, petrol etc, then transfer that into the new account. I was then going to send out the token payment cheques from my old account (seeing as it's not closed yet, and I can close it once they've all been cashed)
With regards to token payments, if I send off the forms to CCCS this week, I assume I will start paying them from 1st July. They should then make a payment around the 25th July, so that should cover everything next month.
so, things like my loan payment, I've already paid 1st June, it's the 1st July payment that will be missed. If I send a token payment NOW, can I specify on there that it's for the 1st July payment? I'm worried they'll think it's an extra payment for June! I don't want to hold off on sending the letters in case I leave it too late...
Am I doing this right? Any better ways around it? :rolleyes:Debt Free and Very Very Proud! - DMP mutual support member 315

Someone brainy and better in the know will answer that for you.. I'm a dope.. :rotfl:
But it made me think.. I did read somewhere on the forums about something similar.. Where someone had paid the next payment.. and the creditor said.. NOPE.. that was an extra payment for that month .. and now we want this months.
Not that that helps you.. but sit tight and someone will answer you ..

Thanks! That's what is worrying me. I know my credit card has done it before, I made a payment during the month and they still demanded the min payment in full. I know my 3 credit cards were all paid between 25th-29th of the month, and my loan goes tomorrow.. so I'm in the same boat with all.
I guess by the time someone has read the letter, looked at the account and processed the cheque, it'll be a bit later.. hence why i don't want to wait to send the letters, as I don't know how long it'll take to process!! but I still think I'm gonna be too early.
I guess, it can't do any harm to ASK that they use it for "payment due on..." and name the next date. then if they want another payment I just send them a fiver..Debt Free and Very Very Proud! - DMP mutual support member 315

Until your real DMP payments are up and running.. I wouldn't give them any more than £1 each. It shows you are still paying SOMETHING.. while you are waiting for everything to kick in.
I'm doing my own DMP _pale_.. and thats what I'm doing for this month (my first month).. Well.. May payments anyway.. June payments I will pay them what my offers were.
Hope that helps a bit.. I'm still new at this and learning too. :rotfl::oVery proud of trying to deal with my debts. LBM 04/09

All our creditors have been paid heard nothing from them hope they except our offer they are low but i am not working and cannot for the near future, in fact had a CCa from NR the other day sad to say this is the only one i signed for a loan but it had to go into the dmp or we would not have been taken on by pay plan.
struggling at the moment for money new breaks for the car and the kids have been off a week hopefully after a few days out and plenty of parks they have not noticed to much,
in fact the daughter said it was a good week and she is sad to be going back to school, anyway our trip to knowsley safari park was a top day out all the lions tigers and monkeys performed on our day, i nicknamed 4 baboons Halifax, rock, cap, and Nat, after our favourite banks :rotfl:

really? that sounds good. well maybe in that case, I'll send off cheques for £1, but transfer across to my new account enough to make 50% payments so if they demand more I'm not completely stuck (the money is currently in my overdraft account which will be closed and part of the DMP). My loan payment is £200 a month, can't see them liking the £1!! especially seeing as it's never bounced as they always get paid on the 1st, after payday. it's the guys who get paid on the 25th that I struggle with!! :rotfl:Debt Free and Very Very Proud! - DMP mutual support member 315
