    Hi all,
Hope you're all doing well! Impressed by all you doing your own DMP's, don't think I'd have known where to start!

I started in Jan and don't get any phonecalls at the mo from mine. But Mint keep phoning for hubs! No idea why, it may just be coz they haven't spoken to him about it at all yet coz i've been organising it all! whereas all mine i have actually spoken to at some point! i'm going to get him to phone when he's next home and fingers crossed they will then stop the phonecalls!

Only other phonecalls i keep getting are for my sil. got another recorded message one so phoned them back to tell them! i said she didn't live there and he asked if i knew her. at first i said i didn't think it mattered because she didn't live here regardless. but then when i was saying she'd never put this address/number down for anything (this is what she told me) i had to tell him (not that she's my sister-in-law, but that i knew her). he said she must have done or we wouldn't have been able to get it to which i said i know lots of people who don't put their work numbers down and still get called at work so i don't thnk that's true! Anyway, he again said the details would be taken off but that i should try and get her to phone about it! hoepfully that will be an end to it!

i don't so much mind talking to a person (altho the phone did ring early sat morning, i'm glad we no longer have a phone upstairs and that i didn't go rushing downstairs to answer it) it's mainly the recorded messages that annoy me! if you can't be bothered to put a real person on the case then s0d off!

Eupho, I have one question, you know the sofa thing, is that a loan or HP? I thought with HP it was different and couldn't be put on a DMP? And that because it for an actual item they could just take it back if it wasn't paid? no idea as i don't have anything like that but thought i'd check you'd looked into the differences if it was HP!

had a lovely weekend with my family celebrating Mum's 60th birthday! But had bought tickets for a show last night and when trying to buy extra tickets found the show wasn't even on!!!!! No shows on mondays!! and couldn't get hold of the company as it was bh! Was very annoyed as it was my present to her! ended up going to see something else instead and dad is hopefully sorting it out today and giving them h3ll (luckily he bought the tickets, not me).

Off to do some work now for the last hour or so!

Off to see Mark Thomas this evening! He's my favourite comedian, and I'm looking forwrad to hearing what he has to say about all the expenses palaver!!

To be honest.. I'm not 100% sure.. I wondered the same thing myself.
They are the only ones that have replied to me so far.. they said NO.. haha.
But.. they didn't say it was HP and I couldnt etc etc.. they just said they couldnt accept my offer and wanted the money.. now.

I was kind of guessing it was a kind of 'loan' .. But I still dont know. I will carry on the same with them until I hear otherwise.

I lurrrrrrrrve the sofa.. but if they DID take.. they so be it.. it's only a sofa (( ))

I have never seen DFS selling '2nd hand sofas' .. and (so far) .. I haven't read/heard of anyone having one taken back.

So I am going into this part a little blind actually.. haha.. But..like I said, they didnt say they couldnt.. just that they wouldnt accept.

    :: fingers crossed ::

I just searched high and low..(google) and cant seem to find anything.. except I found this little snip .. on MSE actually.. :rotfl:
(it was about someone's sofa being messed up) but it said..

so maybe thats what it is?

    Afternoon all

I feel better after reading through these threads - dunno why -just cos i know i'm not alone.

having a real issue with my bank ( & i work for them) owe them £30k and have do a managed loan with them to reapy the o/d / loan & cc. I actually WANT to do a MLA as think it will leave me for the first time truly in control -not relying on ccs & o/d to see us through

but as always am hitting a brickwall - basically as i am 'staff' they can only agree a mla over 7 years - paying back £445!! pm. have pointed out this is crazy as will leave me short with other creditors but they just don't give a hoot. Also if don't go down this MLA route with them & default on my cc or loans (which i haven't - yet) then i could possibly face being put on discplinary!!

have asked a cccs counsellor what my other creditors will think as i will be paying the bank the majority of whats avaliable - the reply was to be honest with them & hope they accept!

oh god -does this worry & stress never end????

was all sorted last night with that i'll be offering creditors etc - even ready to fight if need be -but now just feel back to square 1.

i thought after working for a bnak for over 15 yrs would get support - haha - how wrong & how stupid i am?? have even wrote a lovely long letter of complaint but i know exactly how the system works and that the letter will be just scanned & picked up by a 'global' dept and a standard letter sent back.

    its rubbish rubbish rubbish.

    sorry for the ramble.......................

    sas

Arrrghh! Sas! what a bummer! :(

I think maybe you should do what the counsellors said.. and just put your cards on the table. .. and try and explain to them that this IS your job... and without it.. you cant pay ANY of them.

HSBC are swines! at getting people over a barrel. I am reading this more and more.

I cant believe you get the 7% rate as STAFF!.. yet some people are getting offered a 0% MLA!.. :wall:

In some ways.. this might be good if it went to court. Thats a ridiculous amount to pay each month.. and trying to get the money together for the others too. I'm sure a judge could see that... and I'd like to know what they thought about HSBC practically flippn blackmailing you into their stupid loan.

I know this is waayyy out there.. but how about aiming at another job? ..

    Sas

I was just thinking.. I have a loan with HSBC (about £3500 now) ..

Last year when I asked for the (£1500!!) PPI to be removed (didnt know what I was doing then) .. They said the only way I could do that was to take out a 'new' loan.. without PPI on it.

So over the phone there and then.. I reapplied..

    and guess what?!
    I got refused.. :rolleyes::rolleyes:

    What if you got refused?

Hi a CCA is known as a credit card agreement, alot of companies don't hold a copy of them if you took out the debt prior to April 2007, if you send a letter requesting a copy and they can't provide one then the debt become unenforceable ( they basically cant take you to court if you dont pay it ) so it puts you in a better negotiating position for either reduced payments or F&F settlements. Therefore is thread on the debt free wannabe link called CCA REQUESTS UPDATE PLEASE, its full of really good information about sending these requests. hope this helps

Leese.. are you going to apply for yours? ... I was wondering when would be a good time to ask for mine. I've read it 'can' takes AGES..

I thought maybe if I applied soon... if and when I needed them.. I might already have what I need. (enforceable or not)

    Hi Saskia

Having been a loyal HSBC customer for about 12 years, with well-managed accounts, I've been extremely disappointed with the way they've behaved since I got myself into financial difficulties. Especially since they themselves recommend approaching companies such as CCCS in their publication 'Putting Your Finances In Order', but then refuse to deal with them when you do go with them!! However in this day and age of crap customer service and loyalty only to their shareholders, I can't say I'm surprised...

However, as an employee with over 15 years service, it's terrible the way they are treating you. Even if they forced you to, say, attend an in-house course on 'managing personal finances', for example before granting you the loan, at least they would be supporting you. They should remember that everyone makes mistakes, and that includes financial mistakes by their employees.

Just to say 'Well Done' on writing your letter of complaint and standing up for yourself. I hope it all works out for you! Hopefully your other creditors will realise what arrogant bullies the HSBC are and accept that they are putting you in a terrible position.

    Best wishes
    DG :D

    Hi (again) DG

I was just thinking for Sas..

have you actually spoken to anyone in person.. in YOUR bank.

My dad banks with HSBC.. he has a lot of properties and stuff.. (he is worried at my hooharr with them. :o) .. anyhooo.. He said that it depends (often) on WHO you ask. He is a pretty savvy businessman (unlike his daughter :o:o)

It's worth a thought tho.. maybe you could talk to the manager in your OWN bank.. someone high up you actually work with?

Maybe you have done this already and I have just taught my granny to suck eggs.. :o

I had a sofa on 2 years interest free through DFS (Agreement through HFC), and can confirm it's a loan. I think. I had a few months left and they weren't happy at the time. They did accept my payment of £1 a month eventually (Initially the chap who phoned me said I may as well pay nothing - that's how much the £1 meant to them!), and after 6 months have just offered me an f&f of 50%, which I will prob go for.

Hi Eupho, I am not sure at which point I am going to apply for them, but my understanding this must be done in advance of them taking you to court for CCJ etc. So I am going to wait for my letters to return off the creditors re the DMP. If any won't accept then I am going to hit them with the CCA request. I am mostly worried about the NR loan and Virginmoney ( MBNA ) and both these debts are from 2006, so it's mainly those two creditors I am considering sending the request off to. I would defo wait until they send letter back declining before sending a request off, dont wanna p*ss them off too much :p
