Good morning everyone :hello:
Now that things are calming down at home I will hopefully be able to get on here more.
We are still much the same, have now been on the DMP for 3 months.
Nationwide OD accepted and I believe stopped interest.
Nationwide loan went straigt to KPR debt collections who offered us a F&F for 10k on a 12k loan, although I searched all the way down the back of the sofas I couldnt quite make the 10K!
No word from Abbey CC or Tesco CC.
MBNA havnt accepted our lower payments but havnt charged interest either????
And Nationwide CC - dear lord, they phone and phone and phone. Everyday 8-10 times a day, the CC is in hubbys name so they wont actually talk to me. He has asked them 3 times to put matters in writing to him rather than calling and on the final time he quoted the harrassment act and touch wood that seems to have stopped them, well for 16 hours anyway!
Budget wise we are coping, some weeks are harder than others but we seem to be ok. I have become pretty good at making dinners out of cheap food and no complaints so far.
We do have an emergency fund of about £300 which isnt a massive amount but is £300 more than we had before the DMP!0 -
Hi all
How's it going with y'all?! Hope you're not all being harassed to distraction!
Just a little update from me, and finally we have a little positive ray of light from HSBC...albeit only one of the 3 debts I have with them!
A nice lady sent me a letter yesterday saying they'd accept my reduced payments on my HSBC mastercard for a period of 6 months, and reduce the interest charged during this period to 6%, which is much better than the current 21.9%! At least my debt on this account may now finally start going down!! :j
Fingers crossed there'll be no problems further down the line, but this was my little ray of sunshine on an otherwise gloomy day! There is hope HSBC'ers! xx
That's great news about your mastercard MRSG2B!!!! :T
Let's hope the other depts in HSBC, i.e. loans and overdraft, take note and start being nice too!
Have a great day! :jLBM - March 2009, DMP Start - April 2009

Hi all, some of the oldies pop in and out now and again.
It's just that sometimes your debt and budget figures seem to consume your whole life and fill your head every waking moment and you need a break now and then - sometimes you need to try and stop thinking about how much you owe
Plus as has been said, sometimes other things in life are more important than worrying about your DMP.
Once your DMP is up and running and things start to settle down and go ok, your need for the help and support on this lovely thread diminishes a little.
I only really post when I see something I know I can help with, but generally check the most recent posts every few days or so.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Hi all,
Just thought I'd give you a little update of where I am. Welcome pack received from CCCS and official start date is 1st June, as I had hoped. CCCS have written to all creditors so I am now just having to sit back and wait and see what happens.
Think there are three scary points in this whole process, admitting you are in the c**p, sending the paperwork of to get the DMP going and then the point where I am now so only one more hurdle to go for the time being.
Think I will start to feel better once I have made my first DMP payment and started to propertly climb the mountain.

Fingers crossed! The loan department still keeps sending me letters saying I haven't paid my contractual payment but as yet I haven't been defaulted or anything! And still no calls since they've had first payments.
Have a fab day hun x:j Only 5 years until I'm debt free! :j

You'll feel tons better at the end of the first month I promise, I've been going for 2 months now and I can honestly say its the best thing I've done in years....feel so much more in control of my finances now, and actually have money in an emergency fund now that I could never have imagined a month or two ago!
It may seem like a mountain still at the moment, but with the support of all the great people on here we'll do it! The biggest step is facing up to the problem and you've already risen to that so yay you! x:j Only 5 years until I'm debt free! :j

Hi all, are we allowed/is it possible to get a mobile phone contract when on a DMP? I'm about to give my phone back to my employer which they have paid for up until now. Thanks for all your help and support!
I read a post the other day asking the same question the other day and the answer from payplan was yes it is ok. Can't think that CCCS would have a problem with it either.May be worth giving whoever is sorting your DMP a ring tho?

Morning everyone,
Just thought I would pop in for a bit of a chat. Welcome to all the newbies, and I hope that by reading some of the posts you will feel reassured that you are not alone on your journey.
We started our DMP 15 months ago, and at that time I really didn't know how much longer I could go on juggling our finances. We went with Payplan, and its the best thing we did. 15 months on our debts have gone down by a massive £24k, still a lot to go, but at least its going. We now have money set aside for all our day to day costs, and a small emergency fund. We also managed to get a cheap holiday last year, and that was will very careful budgeting on the housekeeping. We have money set aside for christmas, and that's because I joined in on the Sealed Pot challenge.
So it can be done, its a long journey for some, but its one that we will acheive. Good luck everyone.
P.S I don't post on this thread very often but I do read the posts most days.

Elsie52 you've done amazing in the 15 months of your DMP, that really gives me hope and inspiration to carry on.

Hi newlywed, it is true you do need abreak sometimes otherwise you'd become a gibbering wreak, or is that just me:rotfl:
Yeah when you know you've got years to go till debt free - you go round in circles of making sure you have enough room in your budget to live, but trying to work out if you can reduce your dfd - then eventually you crack up  and decide you need to have a little bit of a lifeworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0
