  • Morning BBB and a good morning to all the newbies and the oldies of course!:A
I would give CCCS a call tomorrow just to put your mind at rest, quite a few people on here have delayed their start date for one reason or another, I think you just need to send another token payment for May.
Please don't be scared, you're doing the right thing and you'll be fine:T. Try and enjoy the sunshine today and give CCCS a call first thing in the morning, they'll put your mind at rest.;)
    Take care
    MD xx
Finally brave enough to deal with my debts! :D

  • Please can anyone help?
    Hi everyone,

I havnt been on here for as while as sadly been struggling with a few things in life other than just money.

Anyway, we are starting to hear from all our creditors now we are in the 2nd month of our DMP.

I need to ask a few questions, Nationwide loan have sent a letter saying KPR DCA are now dealing with the debt. Shoud I contact KPR and tell them about the DMP?

Also MBNA CC and NW CC are sending us letteres saying they want full payment NOW. They havnt said anythiong about the DMP although I know they have received payment.

Any ideas what I should do?

My head is a mess at the moment and all I want to do is block everything out.
  • Morning all :p hope everyone is well?

I hope whatever it is gets better for you soon xxx

This is normal for creditors to say contact such and such from now on, most creditors haven't the manpower to deal with DMP's so they pass the account on to a debt collection agency to deal with on their behalf. It does not mean that Natwest do not own the debt anymore, they have just passed it to KPR to see if they can get more money from you. If you are in doubt who owns the debt or need extra advice on who your payment should go to then call CCCS and they will help. I don't suppose it would hurt if you sent a letter to KPR informing them of your DMP, check with CCCS first.

Also MBNA CC and NW CC are sending us letteres saying they want full payment NOW. They havnt said anythiong about the DMP although I know they have received payment.

Again another generated debt chaser letter, you will get them I'm afraid and some can be quite scary in their threats from INTENDED LITIGATION, attachment of earnings, baliffs action, home collection service, court proceedings. IT IS ALL BLUFF and a hope that it scares you into coughing up more money. As long as you continue to pay your DMP no court in the land would over ride the payments you are making in favour of a creditor as they can clearly see you are doing all you can.

Any ideas what I should do?

My head is a mess at the moment and all I want to do is block everything out.

Please don't let it get you down too much, I know it is easy to say but I had many a sleepless night over Christmas worrying over debt issues. I would cry so much my pillow was soggy, I felt really down and for the first time felt like I could easily give up, not suicide! no I'm talking depression, going to the Doc's and saying 'I need help, I need a break' luckily I pulled through and realised that no amount of tears could help us get out of the brown stuff any quicker than what we were doing with our DMP.

I am now fighting back, have written lots of letters and claimed back ppi and charges. I still get angry when reading letters from creditors not because I am scared but because I want to meet up with them and tell them to 'sod off your letters are a load of crap' :p

Just keep reminding yourself that before DMP you would have still kept struggling to find that minimum payment every month, at least now you have given yourself a chance to be free, might be a long way off but there is light at the end of the debt tunnel.

I have waffled a bit haven't I? ;) But I really hope this helps? xxx

  • hi all, we were due to start our dmp in may, have not sent paperwork off yet and had major kick in the teeth and had to pay out a load on our car, so now think we need to change to june for start as still have half car bill to pay in may. what do i need to do, tell creditors, cccs or just wait.
Am getting about 10 calls a day from hsbc saying until its set up we still have tp pay full amouns etc, am getting scared again now. Plus had defaults from egg already and dmp not set up so dont know what to do with them either. sorry for babbling, its the nerves!

    Hi

personally I would call CCCS immediately (ok not today they won't be open) but at least they will know what is going on.

Send token payments again to creditors this month just to show willing and this will make you feel less panicked that you have missed 'the usual' payments.

There is a warning letter to send to creditors who harrass you by phone as 10 calls a day is ridiculous.

Does any one know if becoming a student would affect a DMP? Thinking about going to UNI next year but most of my income would then come from grants and loans. Going to Uni would improve my working situation over all in the long term. O/H would continue to work full time and me part time - it is a joint DMP. Any advice would be great :D

Morning TP and DMP-ers new and old!

Crikey - this makes interesting reading. The trouble, I think, stems from the first bit...
"I was provided a script that should be followed verbatim. In bold letters was the sentence 'NEVER TRUST A DEBTOR'. "

With an attitude like that it's no wonder these people seem so sub-human..........
