How long can you feasibly delay the start date of the dmp? I've got a massive car service and a few other things to pay for.
However, that would mean sending token payments for a total of 3 months - is that really pushing it?

Just reposting this as it got missed - any advice would be great :D

It may be worth giving CCCS or PP (whoevery your DMP is with) a call to find out but personally I thought I was pushing it with 2 months. I'm sure they will give you an answer. Maybe you could post on 'Ask A CCCS counsellor a question' thread if you don't want to talk to them?

Help please just had the income and expenditure froms back from pay plan and theres a few that are wrong

    they missed off some income

and added things like haidressers and our shopping bill has doubled with them do i amend these or leave them as they are as it shows we have less left over with the IE sheet pay plan have done, or should i put in the true figures which would give us a extra 300 left over or would the greedy banks want that. mind you having said all that the 300 is what the wife manages to save out of all our income by spending less ....

    what do you all think

  • Hi Moneybuster

I think PP give you a more generous figure than you may have put in as they realise true living expenses. Also bear in mind youwont have any access to credit so if you do have some left over at the end of the month then keep it to one side for emergencies/.

I'm with Time on this one. What we all need to remember is that we won't have ANY credit to fall back on, so we need to make the budget realistic. If you have a surplus, put it away each month into an emergency fund, and if it keeps building up and you're not needing it, then go to PP and tell them to increase your payments,or alternatively maybe you could use the money for the odd F&F? Always better to start off offering lower and b in a position to increase after a few months rather than other way round.

Afternoon all, still considering the way forward. Had an unexpected bonus AND payrise last week - my spreadsheets had zero for both!

As mentioned previiously we have a very complicated set of problems. I'm still hoping to go on the DMP soon, but it will be in my name only - DH does not (and will not) know.

Quick question. DH and I both have credit cards with Tesco. If mine goes on the DMP - will DH's account be affected? I think the answer SHOULD be no but is there any chance it might be?

If so I would like to do my DMP without the Tesco CC included, just keep paying the minimum off not borrow any more. Would CCCS/Payplan insist on it be included?

    Thanks all
Hi me and OH both had separate CC's with RBS, mine being included in the DMP didn't affect his card, so I would think the same would be the case for you.
Having said that he never used his again after my DMP started so I don't know if that would have affected the situation.
Also we had a joint account and a joint loan and cccs allowed me to leave those out of the DMP, and I had another card that was for a very tiny amount and I didn't include that either.
I think the point about not including certain debts is if any of your other creditors found out they wouldn't be too impressed but that was a chance I decided to take due to our situation being also very complicated
    Hope that helps.

  • Hi All,

A little advice plz, queried with payplan over a couple of my lowest balances, one being £96 and the other £159, the one at £159 has gone up to £269 as they didnt include the Buy now pay later to come off even though ive sent the statement 3 times. They said i would have to leave the one at £159 or my other creditors would have to be recalculated or if i paid a bit more a month they would then recalculated again anyway.... so it was a no win situation. I asked what i could do ....

Having read previous posts im a little confused (easily done though !) payplan said i could save up in full to pay the remaining balance through them ... i initially thought that if you paid one creditor the others would see it as preferential treatment if you are on a DMP ??

Other question is ... ive just spoke to my mortgage people at Northern Rock, they said i could have a payment holiday for a month which is quite alot as im on a 6.5% fixed ... would i have to tell payplan this / pay off towards the DMP/ or save it as i havent got any savings ??

Any help appreciated ... my head is spinning !!! :rotfl:

    Hi MB,

As has been said already, Payplan add in what they think you need. Not what you tell them necessarily.

I personally am very glad they did! I've been on my DMP for just over a year now, Payplan allocated me £40 a manth more for food than I normally spend. I just saved it and was very glad I did last month when something went wrong with the car that was well above the allowance given in my DMP for servicing etc. That wiped out the surplus and I'm back to square one now. But I'd be in a worse position if I'd not listened to Payplan. I would have had to reduce this months payment instead to cover the car.

As others have said, you won't have any access to credit anymore, and you don't want to run yourself really close every single month. I'd treat it as a bit of a buffer zone try and save it and if you are coping, then increase your payments in a couple of months.

If they've missed off income, I'd correct that, but I'd leave the additional budgeted items in.

Same here, I was very surprised at what they budgeted for, but I'm glad they did.

    Well done DLB!

Very quiet my end, other than M&S accepting my payments for 1 year... I don't like it when it's quiet as I keep waiting for the court summons to arrive!!!

These are the exact two Q's I was going to ask! I have that buy now pay pater with Vertbaudet so I added an extra £100 on to the balance at start of DMP

I also have a mortgage break in June and tbh I am putting the payment in my emergency fund as just KNOW our car is due loads on the next m.o.t

My Q was going to be that my supplier for mortgage is a creditor for my main loan that are in the DMP so I was going to ask if they will know about the mortgage break
