  • Good morning everyone, I haven't been on here for quite a few days, work has been too hectic! Anyway just thought I'd give an update. It's pay day today and it's the first time I've had my whole wage stay in my account for more than 5 seconds! :rotfl:

On the down side the phone calls have started, every 15 mins I think so far. Got my first threatening email from payday uk saying they'd passed my account on to collections already, payment was only due today! Ah well may the ringing continue, they're not going to bully me!
Do what you want because in the end people will judge you anyway.

    Hello everyone,

My own advice to anyone wanting to join a DMP would be to speak to the National Debtline first. I was like many others on here & absolutely terrified of speaking with anyone about my debts. However, I eventually bit the bullet so to speak & called the ND. I just wish I'd known much sooner about them & had the guts to phone them earlier. I was never judged & was spoken to more like a friend in need than just a member of the public, it was such a huge relief when I came off the phone from them, it was like a real weight had been shifted.

I can only speak from my own experience but the people at ND especially the legal help side are so much more knowledgeable than those at CCCS & Payplan. Don't get me wrong but both these companies do their upmost to help, but I am with the CCCS & have found on the most important occasion that the information they gave me was wrong when it came to fighting a creditor. That advice nearly cost me an additional £8500 in court fees & a charging order all for an original £10000 credit card debt.

ND deal with both Payplan & CCCS & will go through your budget with you first, after this if you have enough spare cash per month they will ask if you want to do a DMP & will then based on your circumstances put you in touch with the best company for you.

This is what i did too! And i agree they were great! Didn't realise they dealt with both and chose for you! they chose Payplan for me and I'm glad they did. I prefer Payplan's way of working out payments. Not really sure about the rest!

And i agree with MD Delia (I too almost abreviated your name then stopped myself! hehe) and send a copy of everything for now. Better than missing soemthing that should go and also better than having to figure what to send and what not to send! I think anyway!

morning all! No news from me! Except it's payday and for the first time in months i actually had money left (about £28) yesterday in my bank!! what a good feeling!! I feel like a normal person again! woohoo!

    Morning everyone.
There are so many possitive comments lately on here...thats wonderful!!

Most of you seem to be doing great, and to anyone feeling a little low..just stick at it, send off everything you feel the dmp company need, if they dont need it you havent lost anything by sending it to them. Keep budgeting, meal planing all the little things that save the pennys. And remember they cant have what you havent got!

And most of all stay possitive!!!!! And be proud!!!

Nothing much to report at this end, all creditors have agreed to the swap over between companys, and even the creditors that are getting less than before are onside too.
Payplan have been great, phoned me a couple of time in past 2 weeks to confirm a few details and keep me informed and tell me my case is now classed as up and running now first payment has been sent to creditors and i have been allocated a new case worker and finacial advisor, as it is no longer with the `set up` team.

Seems strange being told dmp is up and running seen as Aprils payment will be my 38th monthly payment!!!! I feel like a newbie again!! lol

I still have hubby off work with a slipped disc but he returns to work on monday, so we will be 2 weeks pay short on pay day, but i think we can just about manage ok, i have made £100 on ebay in last month and am about to list all the kids old clothes that they have outgrown so hopefully will have enough to make up the differnet if not ill have to dip into emergency fund.
I have also quit the fags...only on day 4 and using tablets from the doctors to help me, but im count the cash im saving already!!!! And got to my target weight at slimming club so i dont need to pay to attend any longer...so the fags and slimming saving me over £150 a month!!!

    Take care

Its so ironic that Natwest actually advertise CCCS's and Payplan's services on their leaflets and online, then refuse/deny all knowledge of notification etc.
And to think that I only opened an account with them 25 years ago cuz I wanted the Piggies. Oh well.........

hehe, too true!! I think the piggies were my main reason for going for them too!!

  • if our creditors go for our Low start DMP then great but not holding my breath

money left over as well but as it comes in a nearly one payment every coiple of days (benefits) then its hard to find a lump sum left going to try and work it out weekly see if that helps

  • Donna - Thats great news on the weight and the smoking and to save all that money - well done you!!!!!

I have received a default notice from Nationwide RE the loan. I know they are refusing the DMP payment. Does anyone know what happens now?

Congratulations! (that's such a great incentive for me!) I'm working towards losing weight and giving up the cigs too - I'm finding it hard work. Whenever I'm upset/stressed the first thing I do is reach for a cig/a choc bar/some crisps (and to be quite honest, most of the time it's all 3  )
Have switched to roll-ups though so am saving some money :rotfl:

    Hi,

Just maintain the DMP payments. It may be that Nationwide do nothing having issued the default other than maybe stop the charges & possible interest. On the other hand they may now sell the debt on to a DCA & a lot of them are far easier to deal with than the banks themselves (probably because they buy the debts at a vastly reduced rate).

The worst case scenario is that they put it in the hands of solicitors to gain a CCJ & a charge over your property, if you have one that is. I wouldn't worry about that though until they make their move, the most likely is that they'll either stop the charges and continue as is or sell it to a DCA. Out of an original 12 creditors only 1 instigated Court action (& failed).

Afternoon all, still considering the way forward. Had an unexpected bonus AND payrise last week - my spreadsheets had zero for both!

As mentioned previiously we have a very complicated set of problems. I'm still hoping to go on the DMP soon, but it will be in my name only - DH does not (and will not) know.

Quick question. DH and I both have credit cards with Tesco. If mine goes on the DMP - will DH's account be affected? I think the answer SHOULD be no but is there any chance it might be?

If so I would like to do my DMP without the Tesco CC included, just keep paying the minimum off not borrow any more. Would CCCS/Payplan insist on it be included?

    Thanks all
