    Hi all,
Was told by Intelligent Finance(Halifax) today when I asked them to remove my number from their records that this would just mean they would write to me instead and charge £50 for each letter they send:eek:

Can that be right I've not heard anyone else comment on that when they've mentioned getting their number removed.

  • :o HI all-well I am new to the DMP situation- had my light bulb moment in January when I had just had enough of trying to juggle my debts, and live.
Payplan have now had my first payment (I had to exit the land of self employment and take a salaried role so that I could make a proper offer to creditors) so for 8 weeks I had next to no income coming in.
Despite my contacting payplan right at the beginning- that is before I had missed any cc payments, I have had to change my home telephone number, and am having to ignore calls on my mobile from 0845 numbers- the lady at Payplan had to scrape me off the ceiling at one point, explaining these companies just lie, to try and get me to pay one at the expense of another.
Despite all the aggravation though I feel so much more in control of my life- I can buy food (nothing extravagent) and not feel that I might jeopardise my next week's food budget, and I had a splurge at Primark last week getting three new tops for less than £20.
So this board I think will be a life saver-thanks for others who have been honest enough about their situations it makes me feel a little better!
now debt free and determined to maintain good spending habits and build savings
  • Does anyone have an address for Barclaycard? I can't find one anywhere

    Hiya,

Our mortgage is with IF and their penalty charges are listed in the T&C's of the agreement.

From what I can remember they are excessively high. When we were changing to our new bank account at the start of our DMP, the direct debit bounced and they charged us something like £35 and then again to let us know in writing!!!!!

You've actually jogged my mind about it, i'll add them to my list of charges to reclaim.

I'd just let them charge you and then claim it all back later. How could they ever justify charging £50 for that. I'd phone them back and ask them to send you a breakdown of how they come to that figure. It's just legalised robbery!!!

    Cocker:)

Thanks Cocker, when you say claim back the charges later, can I do that as it's a loan account, not a credit card?
You're right it is legalised robbery, I couldn't really believe it and accused the woman on the phone of making it up as she went along.

I know you can on a mortgage, so I cant see why you couldn't with an unsercured loan.

It's all under the same umbrella really isn't it? "Unfair charges"

I cant see how you could be able to for one type of credit account and not for another. If one type is unfair, all types are unfair!

My head is in a bit of a spin at the moment so wondered if someone could help me....

When should I request a CCA. I'm just thinking about my situation with MBNA. I've had my card with them for years and years and can only remeber signing a form which was one of those 'your card is pre approved just sign here' things. MBNA haven't agreed to my DMP.

Should I wait until they send it on to a DCA or should I request it now? I did send off a £10 cheque for a SAR but they returned the cheque and just gave me a list of the last six years charges.

    Many thanks
