    Hi Folks

When making token pyts of £1.00 do I just go into post office and buy 12 postal orders and take them home and enclose with the letters? or do they have to be filled in at counter? (Never bought a postal order before)

I have opened a basic account with Co-op no debit card just an electron, will I now not be able to buy anything on line? I am thinking when I purchase insurance etc... they usually ask for a dep and I now have no cheque book or debit card, what do I do?

We used my girlfriends other bank account (the one that isn't a creditor) to send £1 cheques. This made it easy to track, but may not be an option for everyone.
My Co-op basic account gave me a cheque book and an Electron. Not sure about how much online use you can get from the card, I was just grateful to get another account and am not really bothered about not being able to buy stuff online as there isn't really much spare money for that.

    Hi guys,

When we started our DMP I sent token payments to anyone who sent a statement and a payment slip. Loans and overdrafts didn't get anything, not on purpose I just never thought about it :o . It made absolutely no difference to who accepted quickly and who took ages.

For sending the token payments I used cheques from our new account which made it easy to see online who had cashed and when.

    Hope this helps,
    Sam,
    x.

    Hi Folks

Having been lurking for a while, and finally decide to join in. My situation is I have debts of 41,000 (joint) and have gone ahead on Friday and started a low start DMP with CCCS:T. I have a few questions some might be a bit silly but bear with me please, only new to all this.

When making token pyts of £1.00 do I just go into post office and buy 12 postal orders and take them home and enclose with the letters? or do they have to be filled in at counter? (Never bought a postal order before)

Is there a charge for postal orders?
    Yes a small one
    Can I track them?

Got my pack from CCCS and got a bit scared at the taking to court bit, has this happened to many people on here?

I am able to claim back bank charges while on a DMP?
I Have done with great success

I have opened a basic account with Co-op no debit card just an electron, will I now not be able to buy anything on line? I am thinking when I purchase insurance etc... they usually ask for a dep and I now have no cheque book or debit card, what do I do?
Electron is a debit card can be used for online over phone ect and deposits ect over phone

These are my creditors, what is others experiences of any of them?

    Nationwide
    MInt
    MBNA
    Abbey
    Barclaycard
    Tesco
    Sainsburys Bank
    Next Directory

Am going to send off token pymts tomorrow and DMP starts May 1st, am hoping calls may ease off a bit, they are sending me round the twist at the moment.

Thank you and apologies for my absence :)

We sent our 8 £1 cheques last Friday and so far five have been cashed. Oddly HSBC have only cashed one of the two we sent (1 loan, 1 credit card). I assume this is due to them being dealt with by different parties?

well i finally got courageous enough to answer my mobile, have been getting hundreds of calls a day, normally when i am at work and phone is off, however no one ever left a message. Anyway, thought whats the worse that can happen so answered, was capital one to tell me i am over limit on my card and missed last months payment, well i knew that!! Informed the nice woman I was in the proces of starting a DMP with CCCS, she asked for ref number and then advised i need to call Capital one support number, no idea who they are, but may call tomorrow, if anyone knows why i need to please let me know. She also said she cant stop the collection calls until the DMP is in place, fair enough I guess. Asked for a token payment today and think I surprised her when informed her already sent one in the post (ok was a bit of a lie as it's sat in the envelope ready to put in the post tomorrow.)
So wasnt that bad, am relieved!!, and actually waiting for the next call and hoping that will be as easy.

    Hi all
just sent all paperwork off to CCCS waiting now for next step, paid £1.00 to all....Spent only £50.00 on food this week.... excellent included 2 bottles wine...OH is learning too... still feel very nervous about the whole thing.
POST OFFICE CHARGED 50p FOR EVERY £1.00 POSTAL ORDER!!!!!!!

    IS THIS CORRECT?

I got charged 50p for each one as well, think it's a standard charge, took ages to print them all, not sure if that is normal or if my local post office is just extremley slow!

I went on online banking yesterday and changed my contact details to only my home number - I presume that means they can only phone me on that. My plan is to ignore calls and just do 1471 to see if its a number I know. Then will hopefully only have to deal with letters.
