Just seen on another thread that Santander now owns GE Money.
So if you are setting up a safe bank account and owe money to GE, that means GE, Abbey and A&L are all linked.
Keeping a watch on my previously safe A&L account to make sure they don't take my money to offset my old GE card that's now with CLFinanceApparently they have to change the T&C's to make it clear they could do this, before they actually do. They are actually being paid off regularly and I haven't had any issues from CL Finance so I'm hoping it can just carry on as it is.
I have a co-op bank account set up ready just in case they try anything though, and will just jump ship. I do like my A&L banking though - I get paid quickerworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

You must have been reading my life story!!! Except that I only got a credit card in the first place for "emergencies", and each time I paid off the card balances with the loan I kept a card ... for "emergencies".
Emergencies like a new leather coat, a meal out, a ski holiday, new jewellery, cd's, concert tickets, a meal out, a pair of killer high heeled boots in the sale, a beach holiday, etc etcCan't even blame rent and food costs much as most of my debt was built up when living at home (although I did contribute housekeeping/rent to my parents).
Point is - I bloomin well tried my hardest to sort it but was too far gone and needed CCCS. Now I AM sorting it - though it's still not easy, it's not as much of a horrible mess as it wasworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

So would I, but I don't seem to have a spare £5k lurking down the back of the sofa - much as I have checked :rotfl:

How true! Especially the last bit - I'm including me in that more than anyone else :rotfl:
I'm still hanging on in there, life is getting easier as none of my creditors ever contact me part from to send me a statement now and again. That's the way I like it and the start of this year has been so much less stressful than 2008 was.
My only outstanding issue now is the CCA from iQOR (MBNA CC) - it's about 2 months overdue, I haven't got round to writing to them yet and feel I ought to do something about this now. I'm still in two minds whether I want to carry on paying it off - after all I did run up the debt and don't fancy spending 6 years wondering if I'll hear from them. I wonder if this gives me more leverage when I'm in a position to offer a F&FS, to get them to settle for a lot less?LBM: March 2008DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 1980 -

HI everyone!
Hope you're all having a good start to 2009!
I'm trying to reclaim charges from a couple of old credit cards, but Capital One, claim they cannot find my details, despite me giving them all my old addresses! Anyone else had this problem?Twitter: @haddockman830 -
Well, this morning, I get an international Phonecall so I ignore it ( I dont know anyone overseas and donot answer then ).
Then the mobile went.. turns out it was MBNA.
Ive missed this months payment .. Told them I had sent a token payment and was starting a DMP.
They insisted I needed to pay Januarys payment and asked for a direct debit card payment. - I told them I didnt have the money.
They then asked for a Credit Card and got a little anoyed when I said "NO" its uing credit cards in the first place that has got me in this situation in the first place.
I then told them that I could afford to pay all my creditors £25 for January and if my situation improved, would offer them all equal payments as I couldn not show favouritism between my creditors.
The guy then asked who I worked for and got really shirty when I refused to tell him, saying I would have a default against my name .. blah blah. I said I was going on a DMP and gave him the reference Number.
I then said I had just enough money to feed my child and keep the heating on over this cold period when he hung up on me.
I think this was the introduction I needed as now I dont care what they say to me. The money isnt there and thats the end of it.
They can threaten all they want, things are not going to change.
Now, only 5 more to go !!!LBM - Oct - 08 DMP Started - Feb -09

MBNA are by far the rudest and aggressive of my creditors too, and told me they wont even consider the token payments until I have 3 clear months without spending.I feel like I might as well have gone right up to my credit limit:rotfl: :rotfl:"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"
