Sunshine, that is such a nice offer about searching the job sites on behalf of Toffee.
Toffee, I think Sunshine is right, you need to have a think.
I would be inclined to asking cccs if you can keep on with the DMP,(even though not making the agreed payments if yoy see what I mean) whilst making the token payments, maybe that way you get the benefit of their negotiating power as well.
I feel for you, I hope you work it out. x

hello i have a few queries regarding my dmp, and thought the kind peeps on here could help ??

As mentioned before, i have a bank loan witth my bank, and an overdraft - i have spoken to cccs about this and they say its likely that even if i pay the overdraft back, cancel the loan direct debit, the bank will not close the account - they have advised me to then just cancel the loan direct debit and leave the overdraft on the dmp as a creditor. Just wanted to check about this, as i am worried that they may extend the overdraft, take the loan payment, then add on charges for extending the overdraft.

Now as i will be getting my dmp sorted in the next month or so i can't help thinking or more honestly worrying and stressing about whether or not it will be accepted, just wondered if i post brief details here, maybe people could advise their opinions?
    Creditors are as follows:-

A&L loan - £8750 - loan has been up and running about 6 months, never missed a payment, contracted payment £211.

    A&L overdraft £300

Barclaycard credit card £7250 - very worried about this one as was the card i did most of my gambling and spending on (depression related). Also it has recent spending right up to 5th Jan. (Have now cut cards up) min payment is £180

Abbey national credit card £4000 - this is a balance transfer and ive only made one payment on it since transferring. min payment is £140

Sainsburys credit card £3150 - min payment around £80

I am starting the dmp at £296 a month so it means creditors getting around 40% of contracted payments. In about three months time i am hoping to increase the dmp to £375 or even £400 a month, as im moving to cheaper accomodation, that would give the creditors around 50-60% of contracted payments i think.

Just wonder if anyone has any opinions on acceptance?

    Suzie

  • Aw you lot are so nice on here, you really are. I promise if I ever win big on the lottery I will get that Martin fella to track you down for me so I can give you all something. (By the way this statement cannot be used in a court of law if I do win big, I've just said it to score brownie points! :rotfl: )

Sunshine thanks for that, OH been in the building trade for ages. I am hopeful things will get better, maybe not so for a few months I think alot more will lose their jobs rather sadly. The new site he was on the housing company has bought a load of land and looked promising but because of the housing market prices, mortgages, banks wary of lending to anyone and people not feeling secure in their jobs means building new houses just isn't a priority cause who is out there buying them?, its a total slow down across the country. BUT in his favour is the fact there is land to build on, the gaffer has a good reputation and has always found work in the 14 years my OH has worked for him. It will take time and I don't think our situation will be permanent at all, there are still plans to build the new houses just not as quick as it was in previous years.

His gaffer told him on Monday things could improve hopefully around April time before they get back to working the full five days again. We had no choice but to contact tax credits and DWP office, ok we could have left it see how it went for the next week or so, OH could have had a few more days work here and there in the next few weeks but no one knew what was going on, not even his gaffer, that has never happened before. Usually when they build houses they release the next lot of plots to have a steady flow of work but they hadn't released the plots yet. I suppose we panicked, OH has already gone 4 weeks without any money, he was due to start Monday but was told due to the weather and waiting on scaffolders it will be another week or so to wait. I get paid the end of January but by that time I would be 4 weeks behind with rent, council tax etc OH pays DMP and food shopping and I pay bills. I didn't want to cope with the pressure of that horrible gut feeling of trying to make invisible money last the month.

It could be the site continues to build and we have been hasty OH will go back to work, we can cancel the extra tax credits and continue like we were and this will all be forgotten but since last summer OH has had his wages cut and hasn't done a full weeks work since July. Always just three days here then miss a week then back in for two days, so it has been a long time coming - the meltdown.

It will pick up but it has affected everyone across the country and it's going to take ALOT to get this country back on track again. I really can't see it magically changing in a few weeks and that sounds really depressing but everyday on the news, today for instance Marks & Sparks job losses, its never ending. I suppose you have to do whats best for you at the time, we just hope we have made the right decision.

I work in a school, I take diet coke breaks and type out nit letters all day :rotfl: I increased my hours in September. It isn't really the sort of place you can do overtime it really depends on the time of year such as reports or teacher training days so this isn't a reliable source for extra income. I am still considering the pole dancing career though :rotfl: I'm sure there are some men who like women to wobble a bit :D

Kudox I wish you the very best tomorrow xxxx Can I just ask are you any good at dancing? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

  • Hi Suziepoor

It doesn't matter who is involved in your dmp, all creditors will send scary letters during the first few months but after being on your dmp for a while then things die down and they stop sending those scary letters.

Your debt will increase, creditors are not obliged to stop any interest or charges BUT the CCCS will help to negotiate with them and they do stop the expensive charges every month when they realise you just can't do no more about your financial situation.

This is the most frustrating thing of all because you want it to be automatic but its just the way it works. All but one of our creditors have stopped interest and we have been paying for 6 months or so.

You will get letters telling you you have missed this months payment and to contact them immediately - DON'T telephone anyone, keep it all in writing that way you have a record of what you have wrote.

It is scary at first I won't lie to you especially when you have struggled by the last few months to meet those big payments, if you have been a good payer thats worse because you want them to have sympathy for you. They don't care, you are just a number to them but you will get stronger everytime you visit this site checking out information or asking for help. But it is scary as hell starting out but you have made the best decision of your life to face up to the debt and start tackling it now, today.

The creditors have NO choice in the matter to accept your offer of payment, they want more, they want every penny back as soon as possible, they are a business after all but please whatever you do, don't be pressurised into making extra payments even if you think you are flush because you no longer have to meet the massive monthly minimum payments anymore.

Stick with it, you can tell by the sheer volume of people on this site that you are not alone living with debt, keep posting and I wish you good luck xxxx

  • Hiya all!
I'm about to start my DMP with CCCS next month, but I just wished to know what people's experiences with the following creditors have been like ?:

    Natwest
    MBNA
    Halifax
    Sainsbury's

So far MBNA have been the biggest nightmare. I only cancelled my direct debit with them a couple of weeks ago. They phoned up to 5 times a day, and even phoned me at work. I immediately phoned them and demanded they take my work number off their database. If my job finds out I'm financially up the creek, I could be sacked!!! :(
I'm always in the brown stuff (marmite)....only the depth varies!!! :rotfl:
