I've only just managed to pluck up the courage to post! I've been lurking since my LBM moment on the 20/01/09 and would like to say thanks to all the regular posters for helping answer my questions throughout my journey over the last couple of weeks. I sent my first payment to the CCCS today and wished like many that I did this years ago.
Also on a positive note the phone calls haven't been bad (may have spoken too soon though) and ironically I look forward to the post everyday to see which creditors are acknowledging the fact that I'm now on a DMP and get quite disappointed when there is no mail - very sad I know.
A bit of background for anyone who’s still reading- Debt at LBM is/was £83K yikes, usual creditors MBNA, GE Money, HBOS & RBS. DH now on board (long story and one day I maybe able to share the story) and with two DS (2 & 5) plus working fulltime keeps me very busy.
Now that I’m coming terms with this DMP lark I hope to be able to share/ help others in their debt free quest. I’m another long timer 8 yrs approx but would love to be DF by 2015 in time for my 40th!LBM: 20/01/09 Total Debt: £104,050Curr Bal (25/08/12): £46,109 (55.6% Paid):jDMP Start Date: 01/03/090 -
Jen, I spent it ten times over already! :rotfl: A wii and wii fit, a holiday abroad, clothes shopping spree, boob job......
Rather sadly for once in our lives we will have to sit down and have a big sensible chat about it
We are still waiting for other creditors to reply regarding ppi reclaims and then after when the balance is lower, we might use some of the money to offer for full and final settlements for the lower debts.
We never expected actual money back being on a DMP we thought any refund would go against the Halifax debt but the loans were settled so will be paid as cash to OH.
I only wrote one letter to Halifax too using the template one from this site, I was moaning to OH about the amount of money we seemed to be spending on postal orders lately too. :rolleyes:DMP support thread member 211 :cool:I'm only here to get some medals......honest!0 -

Welcome to the Madhouse Big Momma!
But why did you wait so long? :rotfl:DMP support thread member 211 :cool:I'm only here to get some medals......honest!0 -
I love my Wii and Wii Fit Rachel, would definitely suggest that!!!
It is great fun and a worthwhile distraction from real life.....:D
Welcome bigmommamuppet, there seems to be quite a few of us newbies at the moment; I am in the process of waiting for my welcome pack and plan to get my postal orders tomorrow.
It feels so weird still having money in the bank at this point. Normally, within a couple of days of payday, most of my pay has gone out on payments and I am frantically trying to figure out how to stretch the cash.
Luckily, there seems to be loads of people on here, all at different stages of a dmp so lots of knowledge and experience.
It is a very positive thread. Although at the moment I feel quite upbeat about it all, I think once the letters start coming in, I may panic and be on here screaming HELP!!!
Mind you, already had one from NR after cancelling my DD for my monthly payment of 345.16 - can't imagine they will be too chuffed when they get a £2 postal order and a letter saying I am sorting out a dmp.......Proud to be dealing with my debts

Yeah been after a Wii for a while but has just been unrealistic on a DMP, understandably not really priority at the minute but looks fantastic fun plus I haven't smoked for 2 weeks now and need something to stop me turning into a Teletubby
As for NR contacting you about your cancelled debit payment, I had Lloyds do this after a few days so I think banks must be connected somehow to get notified that quick.DMP support thread member 211 :cool:I'm only here to get some medals......honest!0 -

Thanks Toffee Penny. I suppose I waited so long in posting as I needed support before, but now I feel I can help those in a similar position especially those who are thinking about or just staring out their DMPs.
Also thought I’d share my creditor experience- however it does seem that they’re not always consistent in the way the deal with DMPs.
MBNA (3 CCs, total owed £20K.) Stopped interest straight away and accepted DMP for next 12 mths.
Next (£1100)- Again stopped interest & accepted DMP for 6 mths.
GE Money (4 loans, £25K)- Don’t know about interest but have accepted DMP.
HBOS- (2 CCs & Loan, 30K)- All passed to their in house DCA- Blair Oliver, Interest stopped and accepted reduced payment.
Haven’t heard from RBS (3 CC’s, 6.5k)- not heard but no phone calls or nasty letters either.

Hi everyone -welcome to the newbies, just wanted to let you guys know i'm still around, got another letter from egg 'if you dont contact us we'll issue a default..blah blah' ..ok thats fine by me! Capital One have issued a default notice and sent a letter to say they have put me on a reduced payment plan but details will go to CCCS, it doesnt say how much or if they have stopped interest....does anyone know how i find this out or how CCCS let me know.
No other news - great to see so many people joining us....off to enjoy the wknd...hope you all do too xxxDMP Support Member 254. LBM 20/1/2009DMP though CCCS starting 01.04.2009Debt Free date March 2015 but would love to be there for OH's 40th in 2014.0 -
Argh!! Not great day today!!
Firstly i paid my professional institution fees on wed when i got paid. this is ok coz my company pay it, i just have to put in expenses. BUT it still isn't showing up on my statement. And I had to pay last year's too coz i missed it and they wouldn't accept a reduced rate! HOWEVER, they never took the money for that so was just hoping they never noticed! As i wouldn't be able to ask the company for that and would have to pay it myself (£160 quid i don't have)
But now it looks like this may have happened twice I'm now worried that something has gone wrong and they're going to realise and all of a sudden take £328 out of my account!! that would not be good to say the least! hopefully i'm just worrying over nothing and it's just too soon to see this payment and that the last one is forgotten! Sorry if this is rambling and making no sense! no answers needed, just wanted to rant!
Next, has anyone heard of Wescot Credit Services??? We've twice now received a postcard through our door saying to call them!! But the weird part is it says 'to the occupier' so they don't know our names! this seems weird to me! i assume it's nothing to do with the debt as they'd know our names if so wouldn't they? I don't intend to call them, coz it sounds so dodgy, but thought I'd ask you lot if you'd ever heard of them!!
Also, barclays are refusing hubby's reduced payment for his od!! What does this mean? They are sending a Termination notice. This is ok right? It's not one of the things I've had before so not somthing i know about and can happily ignore! Ta!
Also o2 have taken two payments from me as i tried to change my tariff and obviousyl did it wrong (but I've spoken to them and it should be sorted ok)
And lastly, it was on the news that HBOS HAVE been taken over by Lloyds! I have a cc with HBOS and my new account is with Lloyds. Does this mean I'll need a new new account??
Thanks for all your help! It's amazing how things can seem so rosy, then a few dodgy letters or things happen and the worry comes flooding back!
And to think yesterday and wednesday I was happily spending my bonus money!
Although I've not had any dealings with Westcot, I have heard of them and I've seen the name a few times on the forum.
With regard to HBOS/Lloyds - one of my creditors is Intelligent Finance who are part of HBOS and my new account is with Lloyds. So far everything has been ok. From how I understand it, providing both banks retain their separate licences then one can't take anything from the other account.

Thanks alot Penny.
I think I will give them a call tomorrow as I am not sure if I clicked overdraft or not (old automatic habits!), and can not seem to retrieve my application from the link they sent to check? Did you get cheque book?
Worried about how I am going to live without any overdraft:eek: .
but I know it will be a good thing in strange way..... Its just gonna be a NEW way of living.
DLB you inspire me to think this way, as no matter what I think I was doing, I was not living at all. A slave to my debts.
Hope
x
I know I am doing the right thing-have zilch to live on this month and have had to borrow from my parents as was too late to cancel one cc and big loan payment plus MOT today-passed,hurray!-and tax tomorrow..Keep having slight wobbles and hate the feeling as I open the front door and have a quick look at the envelopes on the floor-not got any replies to first token payments and letters yet but have developed a habit of peeping into the envelope without pulling out the letter, so can stuff any "nasties" back in before they bite me and put in my new "debt file"-nuts or what??!!
