Evening all, been working most of the weekend so just caught up on all posts since Friday.
DLB - glad you had a fab birthday and thanks for the info you've supplied over the last couple of days - even though i've already asked loads of questions that you have very kindly answered i continue to learn new stuff and gain reassurance from you!!! x
MD - chin up - i really hope you are ok, remember we're all in this together and you and i start the same day 1st April xxx Please please please dont get disheartened.
Hi to everyone else cocker, ianmak, bexxie, elsie - way too many to name everyone, welcome to Ollie.....yet again i repeat what so many others have said you're in the right place, making the right decisions and with lots of like minded people to support you!!
We finanlly submitted all our paperwork to CCCS and it came back with a discrepancy on OH's wages, although he gets a lot of overtime and quarterly bonuses these have recently started to reduce (hence the decision to finally go on DMP) so anyway because we still get a 'reasonable' amount i put an average figure of his last 6 months wages for his salary but because CCCS can see that his salary has reduced due to short hours lack of overtime/bonus they have strongly recommend that we work our budget out on OH's basic salary alone so that should the worst happen and he looses any extras completely we can still afford the DMP without changes. This has reduced our DMP payment by £176 a month....i know its totally the right thing to do and we should save the difference every month but it is disheartening to know that its added years to the term. Of course we can up our payments if things improve long term and CCCS have suggested looking to clear some of our much smaller debts with f&f's but i'm still a bit gutted.
Anyway - i hope everyone enjoys the little bit there is left of the weekend.
take care xxxxDMP Support Member 254. LBM 20/1/2009DMP though CCCS starting 01.04.2009Debt Free date March 2015 but would love to be there for OH's 40th in 2014.0 -
Hi MSC
Thanks for your comments.
When we first did our budget it looked like we would be paying way more than we have finally agreed on which as you prob know from my prev posts has added YEARS onto our DFD. But after a very, as usual, supportive and positive post from DLB :A a few days ago and a comment earlier from Ianmak :A , we need to focus on today and stop worrying about the end date. I know it is dishearting, and I so know how you feel.;)
We will get through this, even if it takes us the next 50 Years!!
MD xxFinally brave enough to deal with my debts!CCCS DMP - 1.4.2009Couldn't have done it without the guys on the DMP Mutual Support Thread.:T :T :T :TDMP Support Member 2550 -
Thanks MD, i will try and call them tomorrow, hope it arrives son as want to get started on it, have piles of letters piling up around me ...trying to keep everything so i know when I need things to send them i have it...can't wait to get atrted on it now, feel like there is light at the end of the tunnell at last.
i have opened a new bank account, with no overdraft, nothing...so what i have is what goes in and then thats it!!! but looks like i will be so better off as soon s the DMP kicks in. no more paying barclays hundreds in charges back every month woohoooo!!, no more trying to pay minimum on everything and not getting anywhere!!:T :TThanks to everyone on here for the help!!0 -
Thats right ...forget how long you are going to be doing this for, all that matters is that you are doing something.
So if its going to take you 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 50 plus years it really doesnt matter, just as it doesnt matter how much you owe, it is just a number!!
Take each day as it comes, if it helps make a list of all the things you need to do, and only do a few things each day that way you dont get snowed under with letters to write, paperwork to find out ect...baby steps is all it takes to get everything done.

Hi Donna, thanks for that, i d feel like i have finally got somewhere, felt quiet empowering saying to a bank that i didnt want any silly extras, i am sure that i will have more money now without a stupid overdraft and reserve being paid, plus everything else!!
It's also great to see so many others in the same boat, there were loads of times i thought was just me but it's not at all!!, and to be honest who cares if i buy value food, and get all excited at the reduced section!! i don't!!:T :TThanks to everyone on here for the help!!0 -

Hello MD and Bexxie-I know just how you feel. The whole charging order thing terrifies me and I stupidly allowed it to put me off doing this months ago after reading a scary article in the paper. I could kick myself as all I have done since then is use the CCs to pay for food and fuel and draw cash from one to pay the other. I know we've all done it but wish I could summon up the Doctor and travel back( then again a trip with Mr Tennant and I might not care..!) to give myself a good talking to. I was so terrified of losing my home that it paralysed me but I had a wake up call a few weeks ago-they can't take my beautiful daughter or my fab parents and life is just far too short to waste feeling so anguished. As I await the lovely(!) letters and phone calls which will surely come my way, can I really feel any worse than I have been for so many months? I already feel tons better just knowing that I am making a fresh start. I don't even think about the debt free date,I just know it will be sooner than if I hadn't done this!! Am not a complete hippie-hair too short!-but I do keep reminding myself to follow Buddhist ideal of "mindfulness!,living in the moment and not always thinking of the future, something which debt makes it hard to do-I was always looking to the next payday, thinking"I can pay x then" and feeling like I was wishing my life away and the precious time with my child. I cuddled up to my sleeping daughter last night and sent up a quick"thankyou" to the man upstairs-thankyou for giving me the courage to tackle this and thankyou for all you fantastic, brave and totally amazing people. We are all in this together and I keep repeating Donna's mantra-be proud to be dealing with your debts! We will all come through this with our heads held high and a greater appreciation of all that we have> Up the DMPers!!
:rotfl:
