Why the 3 satutory payments, and not token payment until dmp starts??

    Hi
I've just read about the 3 statutory payments, and am a little confused now. My hubby has a virgin card that we haven't even made the first payment on, yet CCCS have included within our DMP and told me just to send a token for the first months payment. Think I'll try and ring them later and check..............another thing to worry about:( .

Just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who replied to my question about RMA and put my mind at rest.

I logged off not long after I posted my question as I was so tired and wanted to go to bed. Don't know why I bothered really cos I didn't get to sleep until 12 and woke up again at 5am - think it's the worry of all this although during the day I don't think I'm worried... Very strange!

Glad to see there are others joining the 10yrs gang :rotfl:

DLB/HOPEtrmd, that JB prepay card looks very expensive, and there are cheaper/free ones out there, if you really want to have a prepay card, if at all!

I personal would not use a pre-paied card mainly because i have a debit card which in theroy works the same..money has to be in bank or cant spend it, I just posted the info for Hope who had been told about it, it may be of use to some people who havent got a debit card..but as ianmak said this one looks expensive..im suprsied payplan recommened it really???

So plans for today..Check bank online make sure house insurance direct debit has left account, log on to payplan banking site to see if for any new messages and check how creditors are doing in accepting payments, general tidy up...then im having the day off from everything (well apart from dealing with the 4 kids until hubby gets home from work!!lol) already have 2 nice expensive bottles of wine i have been given a birthday pressies ( this will make a lovely change from the cheap £2.99 bottles i sometime treat myself too!!!lol), so plan to sit and have a glass or two..or three later lol

    Have a lovely day everyone

Just been on the phone to CCCS and he told me not to worry about not having made a first payment as the contractual payment lark stems back to years ago regarding the first payment on a loan and I have nothing to worry about, so I'm not going to think about it anymore. However, if I was going with Payplan and had been advised different, then I would be going with what they told me.;)

DLB - you're more than welcome, enjoy your day

  • Hi everyone! How are we all?

I received a letter from Lloyds TSB yesterday regarding one of my two loans with them. They made an offer to pay off the total debt in full, knocking off 3k from the total amount. I thought it was a good offer, but I don't have 6k to pay them off in full. What worried me (and when I say worried I mean i've not slept, I can't think of anything else and just am at the end of my tether!) is that the letter said to call them to discuss the matter further if I can't pay it.
I did call them up straight away and the man asked if I could basically borrow the money to pay it off - I can't! He also said that the bank has a right to get its money back, they are not a charity and I need to pay them back. I explained that I knew all this and was not in this situation through choice. Although he wasn't aggresive he was to the point. He said that if I couldn't repay the reduced amount then from next month they would be removing the payment freeze and I would incur interest.

He said although i don't need to worry this month as I still have a month to go he said I do need to put things in place to increase the amount I pay per month. I pay them over £150 per month and he said that if I was to increase the monthly amount by just £5 then they could re-finance the amount to get me paying the loan off. Does this mean taking out another loan? I was really confused.

When I got off the phone I just thought that i need to speak to Payplan and see what they say. Surely Lloyds can't refinance a loan when i'm on a DMP.

What sould I do? Will Payplan be able to sort this out? I have a yearly review next month with Payplan and hope that I can increase the amount I pay to them so my creditors get paid off quicker, but Lloyds are saying they can't put me on a payment freeze again as they only do it once.

I hate all this and am just starting to think about what I can do to finally stop it. I usually smile loads but I can't even do that since going on to this DMP. My first year has been ok, but now I feel worse than ever.

    Does anyone have any advice?

  • Hi Rugby,
I can't offer any advice I'm afraid as I'm just starting out on my DMP journey, but I can assure you that someone will be along soon to help.

Rugby...dont panic...this is their way of trying to find out if you situation has changed and if they can get any more cash from you. You said you are due for review which will mean the creditors will know this as they will get a finacial statment sent out every 12 months to show your upto date situation.
I get the same from my biggest creditor Natwest every 12 months but they are very nice about it, ring to say account and agreement is due for review and offer me a full and final if i am in a postion to do so, i tell them no and they say they will deal with dmp company to come to a new arragment but the call if just to make me aware that they are reviewing it.

Just hang in there you have phoned them like they asked now if they ring again tell them to contact payplan as they are dealing with the account and hang up.
You dont need to increase your payments they have agreed to the arrangment for the last 12 months and as said before this is scare tactics.
Plus they can not refinance a loan without you agreeing to it as it require signitures, its like taking out another loan and they are in the wrong for trying to get you to take more credit out knowing you are on a dmp!!!!

  • Can anyone help me - apologies if not using correct thread. I had a graduate loan back in 1998 which was then re-financed into a gold loan (why I dont know I wasnt earning loads, in the 20'sk bracket) I then got in trouble with repayments and this loan has been re-financed over the phone several times with Lloyds Bank. It has gone from 2k to 13k and I havnt got any details. Am still awaiting the signed agreement from them and statements to try and track what I have paid and why it is this amount etc. They have offered me a full and final settlement of £8k - should I wait for the signed agreement of all loans? Should I dispute and only pay the 3k? I feel I have been totally mislead about this loan partly my own fault as was out of control with money in 20's and have now spent last few years getting back on track and have re-paid everyhthing else but I also feel its partly their fault with call centres abroad telling me they were refinancing and that was that. They have told me that I will be blacklisted when settling so why do I not just go and bankrupt myself? Any help from anyone would be much appreciated - Lloyds have been a nightmare to deal with over the years, this cannot be right.
