    Hi MSC:j

I think I'm gonna brave it and keep the number the same. Like I said I'm sure if my creditors want to get hold of me, then they will regardless of whether I change my number or not! I'm going to post my CCCS paperwork off by end of the week, hopefully, and then send off my notification of DMP letters at begin of March, so fingers crossed CCCS would have notified them before they get my letter!;)

 Still a little concerned about the 'huge' (well it feels huge) budget that I have been allowed by CCCS, but like he said I can always increase my payments further down the line if I'm managing to stash a fair few quid away each month.:D

    Enjoy your week guys.
    MD xx

Dont be worried by the budget it seems huge because you have been struggling from month to month before the dmp and having this amount of cash for day-to-day bills shopping ect seems not right...but this is what they see is needed for your family to live on...and if you can manage on less.. thats more to put to one side for either upping payments further down the line or full and finals..or even for an extra treat for yourself/family, because you deserve the little treats as a well done for facing this head on! And your dmp will not be effected by having these treats as it will be with money from within your budget..so you can enjoy them guilt free.

  • Hi Everyone,

Haven't got round to posting in a while. Things have been pretty busy round here.

Really annoyed yesterday as the clutch went on my car and that's £300 down the drain to have that replaced. It's just one of those things that before I would have gone come on old friend to the credit card and used that. I don't want to have to touch the money that I've been putting aside and also I haven't built up enough emergency or car fund yet as have only been paying dmp since January! Someone very kindly has offered to stump up the cash for me and not want it back straight away or anything but it's just another thing to pay back! nevermind, such is life.

Has been pretty quiet on the creditor front. I do find that they contradict themselves a lot though. One moment I will be speaking to them on the phone and they will say yes it's fine we have accepted your payment and then a few weeks later I receive the letters saying they are going to take further action etc which I know sometimes is standard procedure but I wish they would just make up their minds and communicate sometimes as it would save me making those panic calls to be told 'oh sorry madam it's standard procedure'?!

Anyways rant over. must get round to sorting out letters to all creditors to try and claim some of the charges back- how exactly does that work? do they just refund the money back against the debt that you owe them or do they send you a cheque? Just wondered.

When i claimed my charges back they just knocked it off the debt i owed them(Over £1100!!)..if you have no debt with who you are claiming back from then they will send a cheque.
This may have changed as its over 1.5 yrs since i claimed them back..i was one of the first on that bandwagon..i claimed back from my bank, 1 store card and 1 credit card £1500 in total given back...still have 2 credit card to do just never got round to it since they put the claiming back on hold.

They are highly unlikely to take court action just because you going on a dmp..infact they are more likely to be `nice` (as creditors can be) because you are dealing with your debts, if they do decide to take you to court (which one of mine did) cccs or any dmp company are there to help you through the process..and mainly creditors will not take the court route once you are on a dmp because any court in the land will see you are paying as much as you can afford and so creditors tend not to waste there money as courts can get quite mad with the crediotrs for wasting their time.
The one that took me to court ended up with less money a month than i had original offered then lol
Let us know how you get on

Please dont get yourself in a state...you are about to do the best thing you can possibly do..and face your debts head on and begin a journey to a debt free life.
I paniced and worried at first but now 3 years later havent got a care in the world regarding my debts they are getting what i can afford each month and i have money to live on each month and enjoy life anagain...beacuse just because you are on a dmp doesnt mean life stops..quite the opposite it begins again..you will suddenly have enough money for monthly bills, food and even treats and still keep the crediotrs happy.
We still have a hoilday each year and great xmas and birthdays evenings out ect and all whilst keeping up the dmp.
You are doing the right thing i asure you

You don't sound silly at all. It is a bit scary at first - despite being a grown man, I was in tears several times at the sart of my DMP.

Tomorrow is my DMP's 1 year anniversary and my life is completely different and a lot more worry free compared to this time last year. There have been ups and downs but after 3 months things quietened down considerably. A couple of creditors have been a pain, but in the majority of cases they have been very understanding when I've given them my DMP details.

6 of my 15 creditors have passed debts over to DCA's (Aktiv Kapital, CL Finance and NCO) all of these have been easy to deal with and have stopped interest.

No threats of court action from anyone yet. So hang in there and try not to worry.

Thanks for that dlb - just what I wanted to hear after receiving court papers today from the Northern Rock's solicitors. I knew this was a debt that would proabably come to this - they are out largest creditors (debt is £20,000) and they were not happy with the £83 the CCCS offered them. Even though I knew this would happen I felt terrible today when they arrived, very low. Have been able to talk it over with OH tonight and feeling more positive. I think a lot of the upset is the embarrassment factor - as it's lodged at the local sheriff court (we live in a small town) I feel that everyone will now know we are up to our necks in it.

The CCCS were fine about it and will help us fill in the paperwork and didn't see this as too worrying - they said in most cases the court will accept what we are already paying via CCCS.
No more credit for me - I will no longer live beyond my means :A

Ruthie70..Stay strong..they can not have what you can not afford and once the courts see your finacial statment they will see you are paying as much as you can already.
CCCS are there to help you every step of the way..please do not be embarassed..i was at first then thought what the heck have i got to be embrassed for..yes i got in a mess but doesnt everyone and you would be amazed at how many people i have descovered are in debt or on a dmp which i had no idea about once i opened up about my debts..i hold my head up high now because at least we are dealing with the debt and not hiding away from it
    Take Care
