Hello,
Firstly I want to congratulate MD and MSC1977 on all the steps you have taken to get you this far to your DMP start date…..well done.:T
DLB many thanks for your 1009 awesome post it really helped me feel stronger to deal with the calls.
I eagerly advised work of my new account details only to be met with Payroll has locked down! ...and they can not initiate any change of account details. I stressed the importance of this change and requested that something be done. The HR chap advised that he will look into but cannot promise.
What is the likely hood of Barclays just taking my money for Barclaycard debt?? CAB did advise that there is a risk that they can “help themselves”. Any experiences of this happening?
Also I sent 6 token payments out today with the “token letter” to my creditors…which I felt good about… I signed them and now reading the thread …should I be worried….”Worriedmart” you got me worried?? I just always sign letters…
Is there some protocol that I am not aware of with these letters???.
I have 4 more to send…should I sign these? I was hoping to deal with these tomorrow…
I am holding my breath that they can make the change re my new account at work. I’ll be on to them in the morning…..wish me luck with this and my call to Payplan….Wednesday aleady!
Just want to say you are all fabulous…
Yes….Cadburys cream eggs all-round…x
Hope

Hi HTRMD - is there no way that you can be paid into your old account and withdraw immediately as cash and put it into your new accout the same day - i doubt they would take the money this quickly. I cancelled all my DD's inc my Natwest loan and CC, i got paid into my Natwest acc all my priority DD's went thru in the first couple of days. After this i took the maximum card limit of cash out and paid it in to my new acc so it was available straight away and the rest i on line transferred to my new account and this was available 3 days later. Natwest havent helped themselved to anything (yet) and if they do it will just take me over my overdraft now!!!!
I also signed my token payment letters,i figured they had had enough signed cheques off me over the years that one more signature wouldnt hurt, also i didnt want any of them saying they couldnt deal with CCCS because i hadnt signed the form!
Count me in for a Creme Egg as well!!DMP Support Member 254. LBM 20/1/2009DMP though CCCS starting 01.04.2009Debt Free date March 2015 but would love to be there for OH's 40th in 2014.0 -
Morning everyone!
HTRMD- can you not ask work to pay you via cheque this month until they can process the bank account change over? Just a thought..also i am unsure which way round this is but i know that i can draw out double the daily withdraw limit in cash, i think its cash machine first(full limit) then over the counter again the full limit..it was a cashier at Natwest that told me this yrs ago as i wanted to draw more than my daily limit out and she told me to go outside and use machine then come inside and draw out again..please check this with your bank before doing it...but maybe handy if you decided to draw as much out on payday if you cant get the accounts swapped over.
Also not all banks but some let you cancel direct debits on the same day they are due to leave account...on my account if you cancel them before 12 noon online on the day the are due out the money will not leave your account.
Everyone is sounding very possitive and thats wonderful:T , you will all be able to see the light at the end of that tunnel soon and have something to look forward too.

Hi , i just wanted to thank people for there support on here, i'm feeling more positive this morning, and am going to spend today playing with my kids rather than worring about our DMP. You are all an amazing bunch of people !!0

Morning all, can anyone explain, or point me in the direction of exactly how a DMP works, i have taken the first step in arranging one (having failed to realise how bad my situation was getting, continually juggling finances to pay whoever was demanding payment).Thankyou Sir Alex for 26 years0

Hi jojo.
Basically the DMP company work out how much income you have, then they take off how much you need to live and pay your bills etc. The figure that is left is then divided fairly between your creditors (based on how much you owe to each) and your creditors are asked to stop interest.
It's not a formal arrangement like an IVA so if your income or expenses goes up or down later, you can vary the figures paid but in addition, the creditors don't currently have a legal obligation to stop interest - most do, some charge a nominal amount eg 1% above base rate, some are more stubborn
If you are thinking of contacting a DMP company for advice - make sure it is one that doesn't charge a monthly fee - that way more goes to pay your debts - CCCS or payplan are the two most recommended.
So basically, as long as you stick to your budget figures, you can live, pay all bills, save for emergencies, car tax etc and just the "left over" money goes to the DMP company to pay your debts.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
curlyfairy wrote: »Hi i'm due to start a DMP with CCCS in April and am begining to reallly panic !! I think i've been reading to many threads about people recieving court papers !!! I was just wondering how likely my creditors are to take legal action ?
Sorry to sound so silly it just all seems so scary right now. !!
Morning peeps!!:j
Curlyfairy, you sound just like me! Isn't it amazing and comforting to know that the majority of us on here all feel and think the same things! I too spend a little too much time on here reading threads that don't do me any favours:eek: . My 2 biggest fears were 1) a charging order on the house, I kept finding scary threads talking about them and 2) Debt collectors knocking on my door wanting to come in and take my children's nintendos!! However, after speaking to CCCS yesterday, the guy talked me through everything that may and can happen and it actually isn't that bad at all!:D
I have decided to just try and stick to this thread for now and only look at other one's that relate to money saving tips etc, ie the old style boards:cool: .
As brave and as confident as we all appear to be sounding at the moment, I think we sometimes forget that we have to remain as strong and supportive as we can for each other, as I can't do this without all you guys. :A
I do speak to my hubby about it, but to be honest he doesn't really get it, he's just happy to go with what I say, he always has been, hence the fact we're in such a mess! and I have been brave and told my mum and dad the true extent of our debt and they have been great, so I can speak to them about it if I need to talk.
:j Anyway, I'm up for a creme egg, in fact I'm up for any food, if it can't run away from me, i'll eat it..........but that's another story, I can't budget and DIET:eek: at the same time, I'd have nothing to look forward to.
Have a great day guys, and keep positive. Try and just to stick to this thread for now curlyfairy and I'll do the same.
Take care
