    Remember Caernarfon and Beaumaris castle.

A day trip to Dublin, from Holyhead?

Bella lake is great.. lots to do near by we went white water rafting.

Just to clarify, is that Bella or Bala? As I know there's a fair amount of watersport at Bala.

Also, I can highly recommend Barmouth/Harlech area... beautiful coastline.

I think they mean Bala - lots of water sports there!

If you are heading over towards North East Wales, Llangollen is a beautiful little town and during the first couple of weeks in July the International Musical Eisteddfod is held. Different to the national festival - no druids, just lots of visitors from across the world wearing their national costumes and performing. Even if this isn't normally your thing, I would recommend checking it out as the town is really lively that week and the atmosphere is fabulous. They also have a fringe festival which is usually a bit unusual!

  • If you are staying in Cardiff and have a tent there is a fab campsite that is very close to the city. Its in Safia Gardens just by the cricket groud. Its clean and there are washrooms plus the warden is very nice. The police also patrol it as its such a nice escape from the hustle and bustle...i know because i used to patrol it at night!!

    COME TO ABER!!!!
    its ace!
depending when you coming, I may be in Aber toooo!

Aber beach is gritty, Ynyslas a lil bit up the coast is much nicer, sand dunes as far as the eye can see! whoooo! fabby for frisbee as well (provided not too windy). Get the train to Borth, and then its about 20-30 min walk from train station to Ynyslas itself.

Snowdon...has to be done! Failing that, get up Cadair Idris, and hope for clear weather.

Further up into north wales...i really like Portmadog and Borth-y-Gest...but I tihnk thats a lot to do with *all* my childhood holidays being spent there so have a very rose-tinted view of these places, but Black Rock Sands is really nice there.
Abersoch is also a must, get some surfing in!
On north side of lleyn peninsula...you gotta go Port Dinllaen (sp?) and Nefyn...again, really nice!

  • Anglesey is a must! ITs simply gorgeous :) I was there for three weeks last summer working on my dissertation, and a lot of my family are from there :) For campsties try Blackthorn Farm near Treaddur Bay, £3 per adult per night, friendly tidy and righ on the coast! We loved it!

A little pricey to visit, but dont miss out on Portmeirion - its beuatiful and definately worth a day of your time :)

And I concur with the Aberystwyth... my fiance lives there and I'm practically a resident with all the time i spend there!! I'm going to live full time in the summer... cant wait!

You could go to one of Wales' largest Welsh Music Festivals in Dolgellau - they have camping facilities for the weekend too

  • Conwy (North Wales)touring park is an excellent site with an on-site pub.
The Elan Valley dams at Rhayader, Mid Wales are awesome for a visit
Also cenarth falls holiday park is fab with great amenities - altho more expensive than some sittes - probably to cover costs
Boths campsites have very good websites
