I am shocked at the way a lot of you are laughing and rubbing your hands with glee at the house price crashes. Don't get me wrong I feel sorry for first time buyers but there seems to be a lot of opportunistic greed on this forum.

    Here we go again...........

As before, no-one worried about their house price tripling in value - more like rubbing their hands with glee, eh?

Yes, because i do not want to be tied up with a eye-watering debt i am a vulture?

Again, what goes around comes around.

The OP wasn't saying any of that - he/she was just saying that many posters on here are heartless. He/she is not the first poster to say that and I'm sure they will not be the last either.

Again, I have no idea why you all think you are immune to the recession?

I don't think anyone thinks this. Stop sticking up straw men, it's dull.

Please wintersunshine - feel free to check each one of my 370+ posts and pick out the one that says i am recession proof. I am very lucky to have a very secure job and my own part time business that only i work for so yes, i will admit i am in a better position as i also have a large savings pot to fall back on.
I have never said what you keep implying and to be honest i dont see many others laughing and joking about being recession proof either.

Oh yes, the OP was implying that to. Seen it all before. ;)

And this is what renters have to put up with

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1357019

the guy is late with the rent and 1 month in arrears

Homeowners get protected because its not fair they are stupid and miss 3 or 4 months and then the nice man at the courts says they can stay if they pay off the debt.

Its not really fair to vent your frustrations now Property is collapsing on fellow MSE'rs, The Same Posters who are calling some on here "Vultures" were no doubt the same ones who were rubbing there hands as the value of there property went through the roof, telling all how much it had gone up in a month etc etc, what about the families who couldn't afford to put a roof over there heads because even a very basic property was a small fortune ?? Where was your concern for these same families then ?? nowhere I would suggest..
But now the boot is on the other foot its our fault ?? dont seem right to me

So you are bad but they are worse, somehow makes your attitude acceptable?

How you view them, is how we view you. There is no difference.
  • Heard all that before. Until I found out that most posters on this board are actually greedy BTLers looking for their next purchase or people who are extremely rich looking to buy their next £1million property.

So tell me how many properties do you own?

One to live in and one we rent out.

the BTL was kept when we bought our current house as my OH and me were still fairly new together so she wanted a way out and due to me being very fortunate with my career choices we could afford to do this.

I'm not some property tycoon just an average joe who made some wise decisions in his younger years(i'm only 27). I'd love to be in the position to buy a 1m pound pad but i'm not. In fact just the 500k pad my daughters riding instructor is selling would be a good start!!!!

  • I don't see any vultures or fluffy kittens, just the property market working as it always has. Peaks and troughs and the higher the peak the deeper the trough. Though not impossible it is unlikely the trough will be deeper than the last one, they usually aren't. Then it starts all over again.

Even in the inflationary times the market still worked. Over the last 10 years people still lost jobs and homes were repossessed. They became the 'forgotten' in all the hype of house price increases. We are seeing nothing new only a more extreme example.

Whether rented or purchased everyone needs a roof over their heads. The market could be made more predictable. I think it was 1991? (not sure) all houses were valued for council tax banding. Legislation could be framed to 'fix' prices, adjusted for inflation within those bands. A 'market' would still exist but limited to keeping homes within realistic range of incomes.
