:T A mahoosive box containing the British Gas standby saver and electricity monitor arrived! It's the best freebie yet, definitely worth £50. :T

Yesterday I left my flat to find the communal areas smelled of cleaning products ... not the usual state of affairs. In the foyer I come across a representative of the new freeholder who informs me that the place is filthy and that the products in the cleaning cupboard have been used so infrequently that they have dried out!! Someone on-site agrees with me; the morons in Scotland say there is no issue with cleaning. If this had been investigated three years ago I wouldn't be £4400 in arrears! :rotfl:

Just back from a mega shopping trip to Leeds as Mr. Fire Fox is going to a wedding next week. I spent £15 on a meal and drinks at Nandos and £5 in the health food shop, he spent hundreds on a designer suit, shoes, shirt, tie, sweater, watch, belt ...

Discovered my M&S trousers, which I have only worn a handful of times, have a broken hook. They have undone themselves from the second time I wore them, hence why I don't bother! Turns out they are faulty - but at four months old I am not sure M&S are going to be interested.`E-mailed to ask as it's £15 I don't want to waste.

A very successful moneysaving trip into town! Purchased the Daily Mail for 80p to get a load of Tesco coupons, and returned the trousers to M&S for a no-quibble refund of £15. :money:

Hi Fire Fox, I have enjoyed reading your diary and you have given me loads of ideas for using leftover fruit and veg.:T Great news on your refund for the faulty trousers - it all helps. I have seen you have got PineCones in your signature could you please tell me how you sign up to them for surveys?

I have not cooked for several days as I am on strike! When Mr. Fire Fox wanted something to eat yesterday I offered him onion soup, mushroom pate, red pesto pasta, lemony lentils ... none of which he likes. So he made us both mushroom omelette with chives. As of tomorrow he is going away for at least a week so I will be cooking and eating what I like, when I like.

Mr. Fire Fox is also sulking as my TV won't now work at all, and he doesn't know what to do with himself. Having already spent £1000 on car hire in order to get to his mums house and clothes for the wedding, the mean gene has kicked in and he doesn't want to shell out to replace the TV. He will crack before I do ... :rotfl:

I'm chuckling at your tales of Mr FF!!

Unfortunately OH buys junk food on special offers and they last for ages. I just need to find the willpower to not eat it- I do seem to have got better. If I had any useful tricks I'd share them but I'm busy stealing all yours!

The British Gas freebie sounds great- must have missed seeing it. How did you get hold of it?

The British Gas offer is still on the freebie board, but you need to be claiming benefits or a pensioner to apply. Some people have applied on behalf of older family members, I just gave my details for council tax as I am exempt as a student.

Mr. Fire Fox is presently not being spoken to, but I have his credit card so it's not all bad! :rotfl:

Currently on my magnetboard are: £31.50 Clubcard points vouchers, £9 plus two £6 Clubcard conditional spends, £5 Love2Shop, £3 luncheon vouchers, £10 of Tesco/ Daily Mail, £10 of Debenhams/ Sun and a £5 Halfords/ Sun voucher. I need to get more of a grip on this as I realised yesterday that I could have got an NHS staff discount in Nandos and spent my luncheon voucher.

    :D what did he do??

I know what you mean about keeping track of deals. I realised the other day we'd eaten out at somewhere I could have got a 10% discount. I go through phases when I remember and phases where I don't......I think it's called early dementia :rotfl:

I have [strike]spent[/strike] wasted the entire afternoon going through the final accounts of our ex-managing agents. I can comfortably cope with degree level mathematics .... the accounts are completely beyond my intellect. Items have been put in the wrong category, then instead of deleting and re-entering they have added, taken away and added elsewhere.

The categories are re-named seemingly at random, one year the management fee is split between the shops and flats, the next it is charged only to the flats, then back to the first method. We have received four invoices which are actually credits, one for each of the last four years, I think for underspending that I was told did not exist. We have still all been charged for items that relate to individual flats despite me querying this in 2007: I actually feel slightly sick at the state of the accounts.
