I have marinated two Whoopsie turkey drumsticks in leftover wine, lemon thyme and garlic for almost twenty four hours, and it's now simmering away on my beloved MSE induction hob in my beloved IKEA casserole. Also found some out-of-date chicken seasoning in the cupboard so will chuck that in. I am soooo much more inclined to cook up a storm now I have a hob that is controllable, and cookware suited to the task at hand! :T Not sure what I am going to do with the end result - perhaps some in a pie, perhaps some in a giant Yorkshire pud with cranberry sauce? Any ideas welcome!!

Edited to add: I stripped 600g of meat off the two drumsticks, which were then snapped to release the marrow and used to make a pint of very rich looking stock!! :D And I have applied to do an online focus group that will make me £150 if accepted, fingers crossed.

Bit of a disaster today: locked myself out of the flat and Mr. Fire Fox is away!! I have no clean clothes, nowhere to sleep (all my local mates don't have a proper spare bed or sofa) and no medication. Doctors surgery is on half day, Mr. Fire Fox has family stuff to sort out so can't come home .... I need a locksmith. Apparently this will be £55 to get in or £85 if I need a new lock!!

Then my colleague rang in and said he can't teach the circuits class tonight and can I cover, it's £20 towards the locksmith and I am stuck here anyway. :T Bad news part two is locksmith can't park near my flats in day so would charge another £10 on top, or out-of-hours if comes in the evening when can park.

  • Oh that's rubbish. I hope you manage to sort it out asap. Do you know anyone who's good with a credit card? When I locked myself out at uni had a mate (abit dodgy but lovely) who used a credit card to jiggle the latch (you probably have better locks though! :o)

I am back in the flat! My fab friend Andy tried to kick the door in but it wouldn't budge; he wanted to jemmy it but I didn't want to damage the door. Instead he drilled the lock out so I need a new cylinder which will be about £25, and am taking him for a curry on Saturday. In total probably cost as much as a locksmith but be much more fun!! :j From now on I am going to stash keys and medication in multiple locations around Bradford. Have poured myself a large sherry, cos it's the strongest alcohol in the house. ;)

  • Woo hoo! £25 is much better, and you're practically earnt that back by doing a fitness class anyway? :j

Thanks for checking back for me guys!! :A

I worked three hours overtime plus teaching the class - so probably £30 after tax and pension. The sherry is a bit rank, but is having the desired effect since I have literally not eaten a thing since last night! There is no chocolate in the house at present: not a good state of affairs. The Grocery Challenge is definitely making me buy less rubbish so I am going to aim for £100 for both of us next month as well! :D
