Shhhh don't tell me this AFTER the Spar shop shuts! I'm practically foaming at the mouth now and it'll be 7am before I can get my sticky little mits on any instant whip or horlicks! Tell it to a woman with some self control! Arghhh!:rotfl:"I, on the other hand, am a fully rounded human being with a degree from the university of life, a diploma from the school of hard knocks, and three gold stars from the kindergarten of getting the sh*t kicked out of me." ~ Capt. If I could remember which thread I posted it in I'd guide you to my Malteser Cake 'recipe'. My husband polished off the last piece tonight!
I'll search for Horlicks in the forums.

Here's a little favourite one of mine:
Take a tin of peaches - Value or otherwise - and drain. Break up a few ginger biscuits and sprinkle them over the top - and a few flaked almonds if you like. The sweetness and the crunch make a nice, cheap dessert. Add a swirl of yoghurt over the top too for extra luxury.
Use the syrup for something else to ensure there's no waste. Add it to some pureed fruit to make a smoothie, or put that into the freezer and make a sorbet.
Oooh, that reminds me. I've made a lovely banana sorbet from some old bananas that I was going to throw away (about 4), 200g sugar and 235ml water. You boil the water with the sugar until you get a syrup and let it cool. Add the bananas - mashed - and stir it together. Pour into a freezer container and put in the freezer for an hour. Take it out and stir it to break the sorbet into little crystals, and then put it back into the freezer until ready to serve. It's very sweet, but cheap.
Hope that helps

OK... just thought of this so I've never tried it but I'll be giving it a go tomorrow if I manage to go to the supermarket.
I seem to be in a Horlicks/Malteser phase at the moment and with all the Angel Delight ideas I wondered what this would be like...
Vanilla flavoured 'instant pudding' with a couple of spoons of Horlicks mixed in to the dry mix (I would guess dry???). Maybe over some malted milk/digestives/hobnob biscuits and then some crushed Maltesers over the top. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
Sounds good on paper but until I've tried it I don't know!
OK... made it today but without the biscuits though. I used the Tesco Vanilla Delight and put 2 desert spoons full of dry Horlicks in with it and then added the milk.
I can honestly say I was disappointed! The crushed Maltesers was the best bit! Thank goodness the delight stuff was only 27p! I think I'll stick with the Malteser cake... even my daughter says it's fantastic!DEBT FREE BY 60Starting Debt 21st August 2019 = £11,024

A cheap dessert that we often have, which is surprisingly not that high in fat or calories, is the sainsbury's basics or asda smartprice creme caramels. I know you can also get mixes to make your own, but I can't be bothered with all of the faffing around boiling milk etc.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170
