You could try making individual wine jellies in wine glasses. You can add fruit as well.
  • That is tricky - I think I would make something like florentines which are really nice and luxurious and which need no reheating or refridgeration - They are easy to make http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/florentines,823,RC.html and you could maybe take some really nice ground coffee to go with.

How about meringues which can be transported in a tin and then you could ask your sister to buy some creme fraiche so you dont need to beat/whip it prtior to filling them? Can be varied with choc chip in the micture. or a pavlova fillled with with creme fraiche, black and grren grapes and grated chocolate aero?

My Mum used to make Florentines for parties but she used to make them in a solid piece in a swiss roll tin, and then stamp them out with a metal biscuit cutter when the chocolate had set. This way you could take them in the tin and not worry about them breaking and stamp them out when you arrive (the broken bits and middle bits used to be a treat for us kids who didn't get to be at the dinner party, but you could waste not want not and use a sharp knife to cut square Florentines instead)
  • I would second the idea about meringues in a tin and a couple of boxes of frozen raspberries which could be quietly defrosting in the car during the day - with fruit - no worry about it going off once defrosted on the same day.

Meringues thirded, but a packet of meringue nests, a tin of fruit (something that can easily be drained) and a canister of squirty cream. If you have some choccy hundreds & thousands for the top, better still. All will travel well and can be assembled in five mins.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

  • Thanks so much all of you! Now I'm spoiled for choice.
I do have a packet of meringue nests and some mini meringues (those bogof offers, you know!) in my cupboard so that is a good starting point. Florentines are delicious though - as are all the other ideas. Will sleep on it - a lovely pudding-filled night!
  • Chocolate Fudge cake, or if small cool bag easily located, cheese and biccies and fruit, or how about petit fours - marzipan fruits, nice choccies etc?

banoffi(sp??) pie. you can make the caramel from heating butter, sugar and condenced milk or buy it for a few pence more, biscuit type (value brands are as good as any as you crush them and butter) bannans and wipped cream. great as you can take all bits (biscuit base in dish) individually and assemble in situ if necessary. tastes impressive and simple..when i take it to parties there is never any left to take home.
