  • Hi Gang;

    Cracking lead...went out and got one today in Swindon. Stratton Somerfield had none but got one of 4 in Cricklade Road branch. The software on mine was Garmin 260 but I've since downloaded both the update (to 270) and the speed camera sites.... thanks to those that got the gen for us lucky ones.

    Add that to my MP3 1Gb player two weeks ago.

    Regards...Swidnod!!
  • I popped into to the Cricklade Road branch earlier too, just 2 I3's left now :)

    Ive upgraded the software on mine too.
    However, I'm a little concerned that mine thinks I'm in London :think:
    I've bin for a ride to see If it can locate other satellites and tell it where it is, but that didnt work.
    I'm also worried that it wont be able to see behind a heated windscreen.

    any ideas :confused:

    It may think the elements in your windscreen are an anti-riot grill hence the reason it thinks its in London.

    I set this up in the house and took a ride in the car which doesnt have a heated windscreen and it still thinks I'm in london.

    I'm getting worried that when I do go out in my car which has a heated screen, it wont work.

    There is always apossibility the unit you have is faulty.

    it is also more difficult for the unit to do the initial satellite lock if you are moving.

    It can take up to 45 minutes for a GPS unit to first lock (this is more like the the max time and could only take a minute).

    If you've not had any joy in it being able to get a fix on the satillites after 45mins in a stationary vehicle (or placing it in the open) I'd take it back as its prolly faulty.
    Welcome, rogerramjet.

    HI, if your searching for one of those barg sat NAVS at Somerfield, dont bother with the GARMIN model at £99. Think about this for an extra thirty quid For my money it would have to be the Medion at £130 (originally about £250), not only is it a fab sat nav (thats also handheld) you can actually pop it in your pocket. It has a large screen, but wait for this, when we got ours home we found out it was also a groovy personal handheld PC with full windows operating system, Word, Excel, MP3 Player, Photo Image viewer (just had to pop in a photo memory card and up popped all our pics on screen) What a barg...... and its in a sexy silver colour with all mod con accesories too.

    Where do you get this from? I find it hard to believe you can get a true windows handheld pc for £130, don't you mean windows pocket pc? - that's much more basic technology than a windows pc. Having said that, it would be good value for a pocket pc
