The Somerfield Pocket PC comes with a round disk that you stick to the dashboard then stick the suction cup to that and that is totaly legal as its mounted on the dash, this is how i have done mine and its alot better in my car as well.

What's the purpose if the disc on the screen ? I don't really want something on the screen - hasn't it got a suction cup like the Garmin - also I need to use it in 2 different cars.

You may have guessed I exchanged my Garmin for the PDA - not intentionally, but I just couldn't get the Garmin to be recognised by 4 diffrent computers (with 2 different operating systems). When I brought it back, they'd sold out, so the manager suggested the PDA. It's still sealed as I want to find out about how I can get French and Italian maps on it - has anyone who's opened theirs got and advice, please. Also I'm puzzelled - the ones on eBay say they've got Tom Tom pre loaded - I thought these had their own navigation software?

I have just put tomtom 5 and the speed camera POI's on my somerfield PDA, works a treat and easy to do.

On TomTom5, I can pick up satellites, but it always shows 0 satellites, and zero reception

Anyone else have this problem or know the fix?

Have you configured the gps head for tomtom?...the little yellow/black circle in to right corner should be turning.

choose either the "TomTom WIred GPS Receiver" option or "Other NMEA, 4800, SP2" in the GPS settings

I'm aware that some navigation software also makes changes to the GPS head setting...don't know if the medion software does that, but Navman one did, the only way around it if it does is to hard reset the PDA then load tomtom and configure the GPS for it.
    Welcome, rogerramjet.

Yes (Regarding the interface that TT5 uses to recognise the GPS) .... My Mio 168 (the genine one that was stolen use to recognise the GPS on TomTom hardwired device), but my new Medion/Micromaxx has t be selected to GPS Other on Com2) .... strange - but it works perfectly !!

Hi, is Tom Tom supplied on these units? - the ones on eBay say it's preloaded, but the box says it's Medion navigator 5 - what's the diffrence?

    Hi

I updated my Garmin following caverncity suggestion e.g.

update your Garmin to show you speed cameras, I have done it myself, very easy. go to

    http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/garmi...eed-cameras.php

    and here to update firmware

    http://www.garmin.com/support/index.jsp

However, how do I know the cameras are on there it did say something about 7000 points of interest, but how can I check without driving up to them?
