Why buy three???? This forum only works if we share the bargains rather than buying as many as possible for selling on ebay....

    Hi

To OP - I picked up an i3 with version 8 maps yesterday afternoon, think it was the last one though.

How do you know what version of the I3 garmin you have? I have one, but not sure how to tell.

Easiest way is to look at the box:

    - if you have version 8, it will say "V8" up the left hand side of the barcode on the base of the box.
  • My local store has the Micromaxx in stock at £129 - is that the one with a 'flip-up' type arial on the back (like the MIO 169) , or does it have the small stubby circular ariel?

The reason I ask is when I do a search the only Medion/Mio/Micromaxx clone I can find (all bearing that brand name) only has the stubby arial rather than the 'flip-up' type.

Anyone got the Micromaxx that can advise me please?
  • The Micromaxx does have the flip up type ariel (as pictured in an earlier post)
  • Thanks to the original poster......

Just a heads up folks that you can get a instant fine from plod if this is on your windcreeen as its classed as an obstruction i read about i this morning on some website where someone did get fined, the PDA one comes with a gadget so you can put it on your dash instead of screen.
  • You'd need to have placed the unit VERY badly to get fined. It is usualy easy to position these devices so that they don't appear above the bonnet line and neither is very big (espcially the Garmin).

If someone did get done I would suggest they sited it in the middle of the screen (why would you do that?) and/or met a 'hard-line' officer or were sufficiently rude that they prompted being done for a minor offence that would normally warrant a warning.

Lets not panic about sensibly placed SatNav systems - there are tens of thousands living happily on dashboards without problems.

    Thanks to the original poster.
  • Got a Garmin i3 late this afternoon in Somerfield in Biggleswade for £99. They had at least one more in stock. None in Royston, though they had 2 PDAs left. (Went to Argos afterwards and they wanted £179 for the i3. The Halfords next door wanted £199 plus £40 to fit it!!!)
