E7 Refund Amnesty

My advice would be to take a hard copy (or PDF) of your invoice from the website, just in case you need it.
By my reckoning I have 18/24ths of my biennial subscription left plus £16 for a 4mb upgrade which never materialised. I hope E7's figures work out the same."A nation of plenty so concerned with gain" - Isley Brothers - Harvest for the World0 -

Good idea.
Who's going to be staying with them then?
whats the best alternative?

My mother has cancelled her e7 broadband as it's not worked for 3 weeks. Since they confirmed the cancellation she can't even access the internet via a dial up with any internet provider.
Does anyone know if E7 could have blocked the line somehow to stop any data being transferred (meaning you can't connect to any internet).
Any ideas would be well appreciated as I've tried my laptop and it also can't connect to dial up at her home, but BT have checked the line and it's OK. This happened at the same time as cancelling E7, so to much of a coincidence.
Thanks!0 -
I Don't know dalmaster but could it be that they have contacted your telecom provider (BT) to discontinue BROADBAND on your line.
Perhaps BT only tested the line for telephone connection.
Seems very peculiar to me tho, must admit."Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -
I have been transfered to the BBUK network and for the first time in nearly a fortnight I have been able to get connected today. It seems a lot faster also, so fingers crossed the problems have been solved.
Hope everyone else is sorted too.

Cancelling the account, as you probably know, is not a good idea without receiving a MAC code first.Dalbmeister wrote:My mother has cancelled her e7 broadband as it's not worked for 3 weeks. Don't know if you received the recent "amnesty" email ?
Logon to your personal account at the website, does it say the account is still active ?
If still active, you should be able to connect using one of the logons, although there are still people having problems.
If it states inactive, then you will have to contact e7
No, they cannot block your dialup line!
Only your broadband is tied to them until they release it.
You should still be able to use a dialup modem with another ISP. If you can't, then it suggests you probably have incorrect settings.
Edit: Or plugging into a *filtered* telephone socket ?0 -
What do folk reckon if we should go from our lovely distressed E7even ; is it to Newnet or are they just another flash in the pan? Pipex are pretty solid in the ITC world and are reasonably competitive. Any thoughts? Lets us prey.0

Newnet have been around for a very long time but they have only recently started getting into the home users market. They are a very big outfit.
To learn more about them you can go to their unofficial support forum and also adslguide.org0 -
Thanks Rizla01 and Guy Wise
We removed everything relating to E7 off of the computer and also restored back to a date before it was disconnected and we can now log on using dial up. Absolutely none the wiser why it stopped working, but just glad it's sorted.

Was down for a week (couldn't get on using any of the realm names), tried the "e7broadband" on saturday and my connection has been fine since (funny though 'cause the e-mail told me to set my router to the bbuk one).
Anyway, whilst it was down, got pretty fed up and started looking at other ISP's and comparing them (https://www.adslguide.org.uk), and to be honest I felt even more depressed. The products on offer seem to have such restrictions / limits placed on them with higher prices that I'm thinking of sticking with E7, assuming they stay in business, and see how it goes.
Have about 6 months left so I feel I've already got vfm compared to the other ISP's I was looking at at the time (2Mb d/load, unlimited d/load, static IP) so even if they go belly up I dont feel as though I will loose much (financially).
The only thing that really annoys me about the amnesty is that you only get three days to decide to move and yet they cannot give a definitive completion date for the upgrade(s).Personal Responsibility - Sad but True
