BIG PANIC over double glazing deal.

Hi Plasterer, yes, we did, fell for ANOTHER sales job. We're both embarrassed
that we fell for this. I called Zenith a few minutes and told them we were cancelling, I'm sending the cancellation form to them first class recorded tomorrow. Same with the Hitatchi Finance, about to call them and cancel then post the form first class recorded to them tomorrow.
Cheers!
I wouldn't beat yourself up mate, these "salespeople" attend a week course teaching them how to "chip away at you" subliminaly saying big big figures through the sales pitch until they then hit you with the price and then sounds not too bad. - I know this as a cousin of mine did this for a company under their umbrella - everest. He only worked for them for a week and felt he couldnt do it to people. After the - can we put a board up blah blah blah, I bet he/she rang the office to see whether you could have gold/siver/bonze discount (smething like that anyway) and they said sorry the gold had gone, however you can get silver......blah blah blah blah blah. Very clever businessman sat on end of phone getting rich and laughing ripping people off. Spread the word!!!!!!!!!!!
All the best.

Safestyles another critter, when you see th BOGOF adevert "I said you buy one, you get one free" Pause it when the smallprint comes up says something like £2000 loan - end up paying over £8,500 READ IT, ITS THERE.
Ps I wish they would BOGOF0 -
Cancellation letters sent today via first class recorded delivery. Will call Zenith and Hitachi on Thursday to confirm they have received them.
I called Zenith yesterday telling them I was cancelling then, later in the early evening they called (I swear it was the same woman) welcoming me to Zenith and thanking me for my order!!:rotfl:

Don't even think aboutzenith. Even IF you were ok with their price and happy with the work you willbe continuously rung for YEARS after even when you repeatedly tell them not to.0

just joined this site, thank goodness i did.We hae lovely old house but is slowly turning into a money pit.Our roofline and guttering is useless so wanted some prices,my lovely hubby said zenith are coming tonight to give us some quotes.Well i callled him a few names but ok we go along with it.Four thousand pounds they wanted a hundred up front, well one sleepless night thinking about this no way can we afford this. This is being cancelled now ok bit worried about my hundred pounds but i would rather lose that and be ripped off by these idiots, and hubby got called a few more names.0

OMG no reputable company would forcibly stay in your home for upto five hours and keep cutting down the price!
Its psychological manipulation. simply ask them to leave when you have had enough and if they dont leave, throw them out or call the Police.
For info i have had three separate pieces of work done by this company..
http://www.alexanderwindows.com/
In all cases,a courteous and professional employee arrived, measured, departed.
A few days later a quote with full spec of materials and details of works arrived.
No pressure.
Price was same or almost the same as the cheapest of the cowboys.
They use quality materials.
Workmen turned up in overalls, spread dust sheets, did work professionally.
Dont accept anything less.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
Love the dog, does he eat salesmen from Zenith windows?E-mailed zenith first thing this morning, and posted a letter to them. The trouble is now we want some work done in the house but who do you trust? We dont have a lot of money, and we dont wont a bunch of cowboys or Zenith.0

Hi - and apologies if this shouldn't be in this thread. Just joined today. As would seem to be the case with others, I too have fallen victim to Zenith and their sales tactics. But, possibly, I'm not beyond redemption. Usual stuff, chap came round, stayed far too long, crazy price, phone office - good price, better price if you take finance. I don't want finance. No worries, you can pay it all off atthe start if you want or give us a cheque instead of using it. OK says I (like an idiot!). However, it would seem that the salesman was new and got the forms wrong and I hadn't signed enough things. Panic by ZS and sent him back. They've actually now been back four times to get me to resign things and on this last visit I told them to leave the form. They were NOT keen. Anyway, I then read it properly and I will not sign the loan agreement with Barclays Partner Finance as it is a standard CCA 1974 agreement with quite harsh penalties for early settlement and usurious interest rates.
I should have read things proerpyl at first and it is my own fault for not doing - but it seems I have a little "out" here. As well as teh debacle over the forms and signing when the surveyor came round he said there was aproblem with the lntel over one window. So, when I had to sign his form (there's a lot of signing goes on with this lot) I wrote in capitals across the form DO NOT COMMENCE ANY CONSTRUCTION OF ANY WINDOWS WHATSOEVER UNTIL I CONFIRM THAT I CAN GET THE WORK ON THE LINTEL COMPLETED. I have made no such confirmation.
So, they shouldn't have started and I still haven't completely signed al their forms - although I have signed forms to have their windows. I intent to write to them and cancel all this and see what happens. The first visit was on 09/06/2010 when I originally signed everything (or as it transpired NOT quite everything!).
I now have the finance forms in my possession to sign and I won't sign and I won't return them - is my thoughts.
Anyone got any thoughts as to whether I'm on firm ground or otherwise?
Many Thanks0 -
dillon75 without knowing exactly what you have signed its difficult to say. You have the 7 day cooling off period for distance selling but if you signed the correct forms on 09/06 then clearly this has passed. However, by the sounds of if these were the incorrect forms.
So the simplest question is, when did you sign the last lot of forms? Within 7 days? If you did then call and write to them telling them you wish to cancel. Without doubt you will be on firm ground. If it's later than 7 days then no-one can really answer without seeing copies of what you have signed.
Also for anyone else worried about who to use for double glazing, check several local companies for price and quality. Whenyou are happy make sure they are FENSA registered and then pay all or at least some on a credit card, dont bother paying extra for insurance backed guarantees.
I had an issue with a company going bust after they had installed my windows. Contacted my credit card company and they said that they would honour the 10 year guarantee (as thats what the company offered when I bought them). I had to pay for a local company to fix, then sent the bills to my CC company which they refunded.0 -
Hello people
I'm a new member.
I am looking to have 8x windows and 3x doors replaced. At the moment I am shopping around for quotes for UPVC with one of the doors made of composite material with wooden look)
I don't want anythink fancy just a replacement based on the layout that we've got now.
My first quote from the Window Centre has been for £7000. Is this OK?...0
