She would probably make them wait a maximum of a few minutes while finding out from the member of staff what happened. I doubt VERY much that OP had to wait more than a few minutes; half an hour is clearly an exaggeration.
Besides, after 5 minutes of waiting, I'd be standing at customer services reminding the person that I was waiting for the manager, not standing whingeing about it to myself for half an hour!
I was waiting at customer services asking how long the manager was going to be to be told shed gone for lunch and would be half hour I never said i was standing whinging thats just your oppinion of people
I came on hear for advice not to be slagged off by a certain few on this post
To clear things up I had a phone call from head office saying they were in the wrong and i was reembersed for my clothes and before anyone says it NO i didnt rip them off cos you have to give the bar codes on the lable they then ring the shops up and get a price for new ones
Thanks to all who gave sensible responses0 -
No-one slagged you off, so let us not blow this out of proportion. Some merely indicated that your tone was overtly aggressive in response to what was really a very small incident.Comping wins this month: 2 x business class flights anywhere we like | Horse vitamins (!) | New kettle | Motorcycling prints | Signed LPs | Thanks to all!0

It was a human error by the member of staff, but what if a small child had been under that tin of paint when it fell? We'd be talking legal cases, let alone small change for the cost of replacement clothing.'
Exactly. A human error, resulting in damage, which they'll pay for. Comparing it to another highly emotive example is erroneous - I mean, god, what happens if this site came to life and ate your mum? IT COULD HAPPEN. MY GOD, CLOSE DOWN THE SITE.
You're talking absolute rubbish. It is quite plausible that a tin of paint could fall from 6 ft and hurt a toddler. I didn't happen in this example, but if retailers chose to replenish during trading hours without zoning off the area, that is their decision an their risk - I would assume this has been risk assessed? Human errors cause anything from a paint spill to a major disaster, so this is why there are laws on H&S and processes on how to do things.0 -

Then as fatally wounded toddler staggers/toddles outside shop they get hit by a meteorite.
My best advise to you is that you and your offspring stay in the safety of your own home and never venture out in case something drops on you or some other nasty occurance."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

It's entirely plausible that a toddler could get hit by a bus, fall down a manhole, get eaten by a dog or fauxnapped by their bulldog mother and Uncle-Lurch - doesn't mean that we should stop all these things. Bringing the 'but childrens could be hurt oh noes' argument is simply an emotive cheap shot that adds nothing.Comping wins this month: 2 x business class flights anywhere we like | Horse vitamins (!) | New kettle | Motorcycling prints | Signed LPs | Thanks to all!0 -

Should the area be cordened off also when somebody wishes to purchase a tin of paint and needs to take it down?0
