Hiya all
I went into wilkos on Satuarday with my Dad (73yrs old) to get some bits, as we were walking down the paint isle one of the staff were stocking paint onto the shelf as we turned she dropped a can of gloss and it splatted all up our clothes Jeans Coats Shoes
She jumped off her ladder apologising and then walked off
I was so mad I asked for the manager to come after about half hour she turned up
By this time I was seething I asked the manager what she intended to do about it and she proceeded to give me kitchen roll to wipe it off with.I thought she was having a laugh
After about an hour of descution she told us to take all the clothes to the dry cleaners and pay for them and theyll give us the money back (i havnt got that kind of money to have 6 thing dry cleaned) is what i told her
I had to take my Dad home 32 miles away to get changed so i could bring the clothes back to mine
By the time that was all done the shops were all shut and he only went in the shop for a few bits so what should have been a nice day out (dad only comes every satuarday)to finnish off the christmas shopping turned into a disaster
Does anyone know were we stand on this ie; getting money back for the clothes that were ruined as i dont think even gloss will come out at the dry cleaners

Gloss wont come out, you want a complete cost of garments, if no receipts for the clothes give them an estimate, your entitled to have your clothes replaced.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Stand your ground!!!!! They will have insurance to cover things like this!!
I once got covered in Coca Cola in Morrisons after an assistant dropped a huge bottle. They said the same...get the outfit dry cleaned and send us the bill. The stains didn't come out and I claimed for new thro their insurance.
Good luck0 -
Suspect that this will come within the excess of their insurance policy so head office may want to cough up directly.0

I used to work in Wilkinson's and the same thing happened except it was not a staff member who dropped it but the customer, the manager came down cleaned the customer up the best we could then asked how much the clothese were then offered him a cash sum there and then to replace the items damaged. Keep pushing they have to and will pay up, why should you be out of pocket for there mistakes.0

this is also a health and safety issue, they should have risk assesments, what if the can had fallen onto a childs head. They should close the isle or cordon off a safe area for the employee to work in.0

Thanks for all the replys
I will go down first thing in the morning and have it out with them.
I thought i was right on Satuarday but my Dad just wanted to get out of there i think he was more embarressed about standing there covered in paint
than he was about sorting out who was in the right
We filled an accident form in so there shouldnt be a problem them remembering about it0 -
'I will go down first thing in the morning and have it out with them.'
Try speaking politely rather than 'having it out with them'. It was an accident. They're liable, but no need for a scene.Comping wins this month: 2 x business class flights anywhere we like | Horse vitamins (!) | New kettle | Motorcycling prints | Signed LPs | Thanks to all!0 -

I suggest that you take the damaged clothes and speak to the manager."The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

This happened to me in b&q. I got splashed up my leg with gloss.
I reported it, it was logged and I was told to go and buy a new pair of bottoms, then go in with the receipt, which I did and they reimbursed me.
I'd go back into the store, take the damaged clothing with you and ask that they reimburse you. If they say they can't or won't, get onto head office to see what they say.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0
