  • Yes, that would have saved me a few quid but KNOWING and having PROOF that the item was sent (although royal mail tracking is dire) was worth it for me just incase they dropped the rates while my application and funding was in a backlog @ their office. Putting it into internal mail or the method you have said about is leaving it open to things 'going missing'.

    True enough :)
I used SD for some Halifax docs recently, part of the reason being I didn't have total faith in the local branch... quite possibly unfounded, but I wanted the proof as well.

I have just opened an account, what's the difference between a debit card and bank transfer, is the debit card quicker? My daughter has also opened an internet saver account online. I wonder whether I can do a bank transfer from my account to her account or has it got to be from her nominated account to YBS internet saver? Thanks

There isn't really any difference between a bank transfer and a debit card, other than with a debit card you don't need to phone your bank or arrange it online. You just pay it in online.

Payment into your daughter's account does not have to be from her nominated account, nor does payment out because your daughter can change nominated accounts online, or set up a one off payment if she wants.
  • The YBS internet saver has a sort code and bank account number so you can transfer money to her IS using those details from any online system.

I've just opened one (did it on 28/12/08). It appears online now with zero balance. I have also arranged some transfers to it in the hope it gets there in time. Not got much left I can fix now really - about £5000 for this account. I want to leave some I can "play with" in the best variable rate account/s.

A DCard will be quicker than a BACS transfer. See Saver-Rob (thanks Rob) and his quote about the different dates for DCard and bank transfer.

My transfers have happened Ok, thanks to B&B's speedy system (only left £26 there now). I transferred the last £2000 by debit card to ybs today so I got in under the wire.

Well the deadline has PASSED for payments via debit card. Your only option now is via bank transfer which must be received before 5pm 7th January 09.

Luckily my girlfriend got hers in with about 15 minutes to spare!
