OK, I made the CHAPS transfer. The money has left my savings account but not reached my current account yet. Wonder how long this takes?
Also, does anybody here have working knowledge of the YBS online access? I have just done a 'test' payment using debit card from their login area, paying £1 into my e-bond. The money isnt yet showing up in that account and my current account hasnt updated yet to show the £1 going out. Usually its pretty much instant to show up.
Nothing is simple is it!?0 -
Despite saying online that the CHAPS transfer was complete, they have rushed to take the £20 fee from my account but are not exactly rushing to get the money in my other account. I can see why people have breakdowns.0

I've only done a CHAPS once and not to YBS. Seem to recall because it was after 11am the transfer didn't occur until the next day.OK, I made the CHAPS transfer. The money has left my savings account but not reached my current account yet. Wonder how long this takes?

You will find YBS takes a day to show transactions such as a debit card transfer. Phone them and ask to know these things for sure.0 -
Hi there.
I'm not that far yet. I have only initiated CHAPS from one account into my current account. Once the money is in there it is easy to get it into YBS via debit card. The transfer was initiated last night for today and when I woke up it had already taken place. This was hours ago though but the money is still not in my current account yet, despite leaving my old savings account. I phoned them up and they said it can be anytime up til 5pm tonight! Nice and quick, eh!
As for the 'test' debit card payments, they showed up within minutes of making them. Nice service there.0 -
Success. A nice deposit has now made its way into YBS and I can relax for the first time in about 2 weeks!0

Just a quick thank you to all who helped and advised. The money is in and I am happy.
Now I have to see about helping somebody else with it. It wont be nearly as stressful as with my own money though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
I took my passport and other documents to my local branch on Wednesday so they could confirm my identity and sent it to head office. I logged in to my account online just now and my account still hadn't been confimed. So I phoned the head office and they said they still haven't received my documents or cheque from the branch and to phone back on Monday to see whether they have or not.
I want to pay some more money in before the cut off point and its looks like I might be cutting it fine.MFW 2015 - #88 £3,345 / £3,500

What method of postage did they use, do you know?
I go them to verify documents but sent it all off (deposit, ID photocopies & letter) via special delivery.0 -
I've no idea. They said in branch they should get them the next day (i.e Thursday) but to leave it a few days as they will probably have a backlog. The person I spoke to this morning said to call back Monday, and if they still don't have them they will phone the branch to confirm.MFW 2015 - #88 £3,345 / £3,500

No idea if it's the system used in the case of YBS, but branch-to-head-office mail could well be via DX (Document Exchange), a private mail system for business customers, but particularly used in the 'professional' sector, e.g. the likes of solicitors, accountants, banking etc. Look at a solicitor's letterhead and you'll often see their DX number quoted. It was used where I used to work, and was very reliable.
See http://www.thedx.co.uk/index.aspx
When I took ID docs, application and chq into Principality recently, it was sent to their Cardiff HO by what they called their 'internal mail', and though I didn't ask my guess was it was probably DX (or something similar), which is next-day delivery. Always worth asking at any branch of a b/soc if they have daily internal mail going to the mother ship... might save you £4.60 for SD
