Where do you do your grocery shopping?

If I get a chance I like to go to Waitrose to see how the other half live:rotfl:
I agree Waitrose is not a budget supermarket.
But it really not much more than the big 4.
Their offers are great.
I think the main difference is they don't have a bugget/value range, but I don't buy these anyway.
If I compare them with the stuff I would buy in the big 4, its virtually the same.
In fact I think much of Waitrose "own brand" would be comparable to taste the difference/finest/extra special & I reckon Waitroses own brand are cheaper than these ranges in the big 4:D0 -
I buy my fruit and veg from either supermarkets or a local farm market.
Meat is from local butchers, fish from local grocers/ fishmongers and everything else from various retail shops, mostly asda for food and wilkinson for non foods items.Sup'0 -
I do my main shop at Asda as I get staff discount, but I also go to Lidl once a week because they have good offers.0

Llidls, M & S for Oakham chickens (on offer), Asda, Morrisons, local co-op (for bargains) and very occasionally, Tescos.
To go to one shop just because you get "points" seems pointless to me as you pay for them one way or the other (IMO)." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

I shop at Tesco, there is a Sainsbury's nearby but I just prefer Tesco's . Tried shopping in Lidl's and Aldi (my friend swears by them) but my shopping ended up more expensive and I still had to go to Tesco's for a top up shop. There is also a Somerfield that I walk past on the way home from work so I pop in there for milk and things (they sell better noddles than Tesco as well) when I can't be bothered with driving to Tesco.0

I shop at Morrisons, used to use Asda a few years ago but it seemed to go the pan to me.
Both the Asdas near us seem a bit unclean and offer little variety, they never seem to anything 'nice', rather like the old Kwiksave used to be.
The Morrisons I use has a greater choice and it's half the size so I can shop fairly quickly.0 -

I agree, on branded products the Waitrose price is often identical to Tesco and Sainsbugs.
M&S: some stuff is good (Their tinned tomatoes for example, the walnut bread, mozzarella and their wine). But I have yet to have one of their bland and overpriced ready meals which I could not make a better homemade version of for a fraction of the cost.
Waitrose own brand are usually excellent. Sainsburys 'Taste the Difference' own brand (premium) is usually quite good too. Tesco Finest however should be renamed Tesco barely adequate as it's not worth the extra £.
I try to avoid Tesco and Asda (Walmart) for ethical reasons and supermarkets in general because they tend to be quite soul destroying depressing places to shop - food shopping should be fun! Waitrose staff do tend to very friendly and helpful though and they sell cheaper cuts of meat like pig cheeks, ox cheeks, oxtail etc which is unusual for a supermarket.
Prefer the butcher for meat, fishmonger for fish and box scheme + greengrocer for fruit/veg as quality is always better and the price is usually lower so win win.
Some but not all Waitrose fruit and veg is (too) expensive but then that's true for supermarkets in general...
In M&S - Scottish monkfish is £35 per kg!! I know it's now a luxury fish but the fishmongers charge £20 to £23 per kg.
Top tip for Waitrose is to go an hour or two before closing and grab bargain priced reduced meat and cheese from the service counters to stock up your fridge/freezer.
It's a lucky dip but sometimes cheese is reduced by 70 or 80% and it's still fine for several days if not weeks. In fact if it's a cheese like Brie it's just approaching the point of ripe perfection when they slash the price because of some ridiculous arbitary sell by date! Take advantage of this foolishness is what I say!

Agreed, their reductions are fab.
I don't bother looking in the big 4s reductions, because from what I have seen it a few pence for stuff thats about to go off.
Waitrose sell it for next to nothing, so if you're going to eat it that evening:j0
