Where do you do your grocery shopping?

I use Tesco for everything but I have every supermarket nearby so in the new year I might go elsewhere if it will save me money. Where do you all do your shopping? If you use more than one shop what do you buy from each one? Do you get all non food items in the supermarket or do you go elsewhere for that stuff?

  • I swapped to Asda about a year ago and find they are much cheaper than Tesco. I always used a free delivery code but they are getting quite scarce so I might start looking elsewhere in the new year.

  • If you're a real skinflint there is some hideous sounding place called Aldi.

Anyway, to answer your question, I shop at Waitrose and Sainsbury and then various organic stores for certain items.
  • Farmshop for fruit, veg, milk, eggs and cream

    Butcher for meat

Waitrose for fish, baking supplies, ham, tinned and dried food (pasta, rice etc), wine, butter, cheese, fruit from overseas

Tesco for non-food items -loo roll, washing powder, shampoo etc

As this is a shopping thread I've moved it over to the shop but don't drop board where you should get more replies.

If you have a browse through the shop but don't drop board you'll find many threads discussing the various supermarkets and what is best to buy there.

  • I have done my main shop at Tesco for the past couple of years because of the points but now I am finding it very hard to get any points worth having and I am thinking of changing to Asda.

Farm shop, village shop, health food shop, online ethical shopping sites. If I have to go to a supermarket, I'll go to Sainsburys, Waitrose, Tesco or Morrisons depending on which one is most convenient (they're listed in order of preference)
  • Hi Mr T's for store cupboard and fruit and veg,and M&S and waitrose for those little luxury items, and my local butchers for meat, the supermarket stuuff is generally horrible, and poor value for money!!

I like Morrisons as they have more buy one get one free offers. Only problem is its too far out and cost too much in Taxis. So for me it has to be Asda, which I do not mind but find it a bit pricey for some things.
