I believe head injury maybe a contributing factor, obviously, because I had one as a child, I can connect that to my sleep issues. I have one friend who kept going on about his knowledge transmitters and connections etc and read some stuff myself. Her/partner.. take on it was.... to do with brain connections and development at certain stages throughout life. Hence why she kept prodding at me that the popular onset is at teenage years. Saying something's not connected at that stage of development.
There's an ongoing study in Glasgow, for people who can't sleep. Lost the link for it. Google should bring it up.

How can I make my body switch off at night and sleep properly ?
Im not kidding, its got beyond a joke, seriously. Last night I was constantly turning over and round, moaning and groaning and talking, legs and arms twitching, grinding my teeth and snoring. OH couldnt get to sleep for about 3 hours and its not fair on him. I wake up feeling tired and groggy. This has been going on for nearly 2 years.
The doc gave me a nasal spray to try and said I had sleep apnea. The spray worked for a couple of days but doesnt work anymore.
Tips for what not to eat or drink after certain hours, when to go to bed, how to sleep, anything at all please, what to make my body switch off and relax at night.
Buy this book i just have i've heard it's excellent i hope so as i suffer from severe insomnia.

Thank you Karen. I sent for this book the day you posted your message and it arrived within a few days. Have to say I haven't read all the book yet but I've been using the CD every night and it's made a tremendous difference to me. I'm the sort of person who can't switch off my thoughts when I go to bed and it generally takes me at least two hours plus to get off to sleep, but listening to this CD relaxes you straight away and in the last couple of weeks there's only been two nights when I've had a problem getting off (and those days there was a lot going on!). I just put the CD back on when that happens. I have one of those under pillow speakers from Maplin and it works a treat.
Amazon have dropped the price a little, it was £5.49 when I ordered so qualified for free delivery, it's now £4.94 so you either have to make it up to £5 or pay postage.
If anyone is thinking of getting this, I'd certainly recommend it as I thought I'd never find a way of getting off to sleep in a reasonable time but this has definitely worked for me.0 -
I'm back and the latest news is that I've switched doctors and the new one is looking into finding out how to get a referral to the Sleep Clinic at Newcastle.
My sleep hasn't improved much at all despite not having chocolate/caffeine/cheese etc and the doctor said that no amount of _____ is going to improve my sleep now so its time to find out whats going on.0 -
If you go through your diet and check what you are eating. If I eat food with a lot of additives I don't sleep. Supermarket bread is the worst offender for me but dried fruit with sulphur dioxide and fizzy drinks also are chemical soup. Problem is if you are out difficult to find out if what is in the food.0

That's good news. Any more progress. I hope you get some answers to your sleep issues. Have you had an appoitment yet ? for a PSG overnight and a MSLT daytime tests. I find organic helps better for me. But because of the price, I can't really have a whole shopping basket of organic...so I stock up on dry long life cupboard items when they're on special offers , weetabix, stock cubes etc.
HM organic soup ingrediants , isn't that much more to buy than the normal veg, goes a long way, takes great and my digestive system is agreeable with it. I've tried ruling out allergies out etc, gluten lactose, what foods triggers heartburn, burping etc, these kinda things disrupt sleep.Always_Harassed wrote: »If you go through your diet and check what you are eating.
