I can't believe I forgot to say this earlier but I just remembered that I'm a mum, :o and I'd like a wok with a lid on it, the latest Twilight book, and a box of plain chocs from Thorntons. (but not too big cos I will eat them all!)

Some luxurious L'Occitane smellies that I can't afford to buy for myself would be fab too.

Some tickets to see a band far enough in the future to look forward too would be an amazing present.

And one of those two or three tier cake stands would be lovely as well. (I could have the girls round for a posh tea!)

Some kind of voucher for a family day out would be awesome too as we don't do that enough due to financial contraints.

I'm also into sorting out and framing family photos at the moment so some nice picture frames wouldn't go amiss either.

Or if you reeeeeaaaalllllly love me ;):D - a Wii Fit!

PS Did you notice how I started off quite modestly and then my demands got bigger and bigger? :rotfl: :p :rotfl: :p :rotfl: *hangs greedy head in shame*:D
I am now wishing I was a Mum!

A present I know they will definitely use.

  • I actually haven't bought for my mum this year. Instead, I have knitted her a scarf and made a jar of peach slices in brandy. I know she will love and appreciate both, and it really hasn't cost a lot. Have also knitted scarves for MIL and SIL, and will probably also make one for other SIL.

    Hi all :)
I'm wondering what to buy Mum. I could ask her and she'll say 'Oh just get me some chocolates', like she does every year. You might think 'Get her choccies then!', she does like them and I do get them'...every birthday & Christmas. It would be nice to surprise her...I just need a little inspiration...So what's everyone getting their Mums? :)

So many great suggestions on this thread! Here's another - I hope!

If your mum wants chocolates, why not get her chocolates - but with a twist?

Go onto the special occasions and celebrations board and search for 'pot of gold'. It's a great idea - and heavy on chocolates ;) .

You find a nice container/pot/box/whatever, and fill it with 'gold'. Ferrero rocher chocs; chocolate coins; choc eclairs with gold wrappers; choc bars with the outer wrapper removed, and just the gold foil wrapper on. Any other 'gold' things you can find (and which fit1). Add a scratch card or lottery lucky dip if appropriate. Wrap it up nicely, and put on a 'pot of gold' tag.

Mum gets what she wants (chocs!!!); you get kudos for being inventive ;)
    What's not to love?! :T
  • I've just 'made' my mum a rude pressie! Two big fat balls (wild bird feeder variety) and a bag of bird peanuts wired together to look like ....er well....im sure you can guess! Good for a gigggle and cost £2.

Oh and in realation to original OP. How about a day trip to Cadburys world?

    I have bought my mum:

    A Radley purse
A Clarins 'Gorgeous Getaways' box full of lovely Clarins smellies
A rare Winnie the Pooh ornament (she loves them!) with her birthstone in

    I love spoiling my mum!

Bought is to buy. Brought is to bring.
  • A Radio. My Mum just happened to mention that she'd like a radio to listen to in the bathroom (battery operated of course). So not having any idea what to get her before then as she kept saying she didn't need anything, I jumped in and offered to buy it for her for christmas. Result, one very happy Mum and one relieved daughter (me!). Also bought her some new curtains for her newly decorated kitchen.
  • This year my DD got me a flat screen computer monitor which is so much bigger and better than my old small fat one! :D

I got my mum a shopping trolley on wheels (as she has been ill and can't carry a lot) and a talking picture frame (also a few bits from Boots).

In the past i have given her a Digital radio that she loves and subscriptions to mags (as well as her favourite perfume).

I will be getting my mum a treatment from her local beauty salon, ealier this year when it was her birthday my eldest daughter bought her a pedicure from this salon and my mom thoroughly enjoyed it however she would never have dreamt of booking this herself. Its good encouragement for mums to pamper themselves from time to time, just give them a little taster.:A Maria

One of the things I bought my friend for her Xmas was a wooden jewellery box which I've filled with chocolate coins! The jewellery box was £2 from Au Naturale (reduced from £12) and the gold coins were 3 packs for a £1 - so she gets a pot of gold for Xmas.

    Great minds!;)
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!
