i made ribs with a levi sauce the other day. I thought it was think, so i cooked the ribs in a pot of boiling water. then when cooked i covered in sauce and whacked in the oven. they weren't marinated as such but still very flavourful.Opinion on everything, knowledge of nothing.0

Hi Any,
I would cook the ribs in the oven then 5-10 minutes before the end of cooking use a pastry brush to paint them with your sauce. Return to the oven and keep a close eye on them because the sauce will burn easily.
We have an existing thread on ribs that may give you more ideas:

I'll add your thread to that one later.

Thank you,
Kitykat the first recipe sounds good, but it sounds like hell of a lot of ingrediences!!:-) Perhaps for a party I will do that.
I have seen a recipe on BBC food where they boiled (in spices&garlic) ribs first and then put glaze on, perhaps I could try that with the Levi's sauce. How longe did you whack them in the oven for afterwards please?0 -

mix some tomato sauce with some soy sauce, marinate then cook, regurlarly basting.
you can also pop in a bit of honey if you have any. yum.0 -
Would it work if I put these in the slow cooker with some onions carrots and potatoes, or do I need to cook them separately first as they are on the bone.
I was hoping to make some sort of meat and veg mix to put in pies/pasty.
Thank you.
I've just checked and they're not spare ribs, they're just ribs.0 -
No, just whack it all in!
I had some in the freezer and put them into a veg stew for extra flavour. When I fished the bones (and wierd gristly bits) out at the end I was stunned by the amount of meat [STRIKE]on them[/STRIKE] that had fallen off them. Tasty and relatively cheap :beer:They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.0 -
Cool that's just what I wanted to hear, I was just concerned incase any scum came off the bones.
Thanks0 -
Not that I remember- just skim it off if there is any. I'm such a careful cook! They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.0

Hi ollow,
There shouldn't be any scum but there will be so much more flavour to your dish from meat cooked on the bone rather than boned meat. Enjoy!
