I never got a chance to try them
The ribs had turned bad before the date on the pack - they really didn't look (or smell) too clever so I didn't chance it. Such a shame.
They are on the shopping list for the next visit to Tescos, so I will let you know how it goes when I finally get round to making them0 -
Oh NO! Did you complain to *insert name of the shop you bought them in*? I certainly would as ribs aren't that cheap these days !!!!!
Cool - let me know.A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

I went to a pub recently and had the most amazing rack of ribs with a chipotle bbq sauce. The sauce was really thick and sticky and the meat just fell away from the ribs.
I want to recreate this at home but have never cooked ribs before.
Can i get them from a supermarket butchers counter or do I have to go somewhere more specific?
Does anyone have any good recipes for a bbq sauce?
I have a slow cooker so i thought they could be cooked in there?0 -
Try this ...
BARBEQUE SAUCE
This is a simple, yet versatile barbeque sauce. You can marinade things in it, cook things in it, dip things in it or just use it as a sauce.
INGREDIENTS
2 tablespoons of butter
1 tablespoon of sugar
2 tablespoons of brown sauce
2 drops of Tabasco chilli pepper sauce
3 tablespoons of tomato ketchup
1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
METHOD
Put the butter and sugar into a saucepan on a low heat. Melt the butter and sugar. Stir frequently to stop it sticking.
Remove the pan from the heat.
Add all of the other ingredients. Mix thoroughly.
ADDITIONS & ALTERNATIVES
Add 1 tablespoon of mushroom ketchup at the same time as the other sauces. Mushroom ketchup is a runny brown liquid, obviously made from mushrooms. It’s available in the “better” supermarkets.
TIPS
This will keep in the fridge for 48 hours. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
Hi binky,
I mix about 200mls of ketchup, desert spoon of vinegar, a good dash of worcester sauce, a tbsp of brown sugar, and a couple of teaspoons of mustard powder together to make mine.
Cook the ribs slowly in the oven for about an hour. Heat the sauce in a pan and adjust the ingredients to taste, then brush it onto the cooked ribs and turn up the oven continue to cook until the sauce is nice and sticky but not burned.

If you want really nice ribs go to a butcher. The ones at Tescos aren't meaty enough for me0

I lvoe chipotles - but most of the recipes I have seen ask for 'chiptole in adobe' which I haven't found in the shops - only online with a hefty postage charge
. Waitrose do a chiptole paste which does give a lovely smokiness and a bit of chilli kick - I'd add a tablespoon or so of that to a bbq sauce recipe.
To get falling apart ribs steam them first then bake with the glaze/ sauce onPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

I usually boil mine for about 45 mins first, they look horrid, but drained, sauce on and into the oven, all is good!!!0

I get mine in Mr M.... fairly cheap. Cut into individual ribs, put in SC, cover with hot water (from kettle) cook on high for 3 hours or low for about 5, take out, they look all pale boiled and nasty!! THen put on baking tray, smother with BBQ sauce (I use Heinz!!) and cook for 15 mins in a hot oven. YUM!!!Children are born with wings ....
