Asda Extra Special Ham - Was £15 now £5
Comments
-
I went to ASDA a couple of days ago after reading about these joints and I have to admit they don't look very appealing, they look pale and you can see some water inside the packaging. The ready sliced joints at £10 for the same weight looked much better. But because I've read lots of comments on here I still bought one as £5 for 1.3kg of ham (that's how big the one was I picked up) is a really good price and we eat loads of ham and I thought it was worth a try.
How deceptive appearances can be. I opened the packaging and the small amount of water came out, there really wasn't much at all and the ham looked so much better once it was out of the bag. I'm not very good at slicing so we've all had lovely thick slices in our sandwiches. All of the family say it's really good. I'm fussy about meat and so is one of my daughters. I hope to get another one now as I'm so pleased with it.
Thanks to the OP. A great post.0 -

This shows a picture of the ham.
The reason boneless ham joints are pressed, is to remove the hole which is left when the bone is removed.
I would not trust any ham which is shaped like a bear, smiley face or perfect square ideal for sandwiches, these are likely to have been tampered with. I'm no fool me!0 -
All gone in my local Asda today, so whatever anyone says, there are a lot of people out there, myself included, who are very happy with it. Don't suppose we'll see it again, but nice while it lasted.0

There is no need to compress ham to eliminate the space left by the removal of the bone, you simply fold the meat to do this.

Tesco had a carved joint of ham for £5.00 or £5.99 which was heavily discounted. Looks nice.0
