I need to keep track of all of our spending.
Continue to cook from scratch.
Use part of the garden to grow some veg, grow herbs in pots outside the back door.
Carry on getting books from the library, a bargain at 25p to reseve something I really want or free to read for 3 weeks.0 -
2009 is a big year for me as in August I'm getting married!
So my resolutions are:
- Get my backside in gear and actually organise the wedding
- Finish decorating the house
- Tidy up the garden a bit and try to grow some veg (not too much though as realistically i'm just not going to have time this year!)
- Start planning meals and food shopping properly again - we've got a functioning kitchen now so no excuse!
- Make the most of living by the seaside - and enjoy the simple pleasures in life!

you're right Dragon, its definitely worth checking out, and maybe start a campaign to change the bylaw? I think some bylaws may just forbid the keeping of cockerels?
I was stunned when I read on Down to Earth that in some areas of USA its illegal to collect rain water
Sorry OT, I'll get me coat............ don't throw the string away. You always need string!

In 2009 I'd like to:
- Make much better use of my allotment. I should be grateful that I have one and get something productive out of it.
- Not make impulse buys. I only feel guilty afterwards
- Carry on with the good OS work I've done so far, especially grocery wise
- Pay as much as I can towards my mortgage so that I can free up some cash each month in the future
- Be grateful for my lot and make sure that I take the time to enjoy my life

Great thread!
Mine are:- Cook from scratch and batch freeze more, making use of new 2nd freezer in garage, and meal plan - monthly works for me
- Get into a routine for housework and ironing
- Spend no more that £35/week on groceries/toiletries for 2 adults and 2 dogs
- Continue to make my own bread and possibly buy a breadmaker(not full price of course!)
- Save £5000 in 2009 by reducing spending and selling unwanted items
- Try not to buy any new clothes. Get mine and OH wardrobes organised as we have more than enough clothes already
- Find ways to keep motivated in achieving my saving and spending goals. I start with good intentions then life gets in the way and I lose control of my spending.
Annual GC £2500/£486.79 for 2 adults and 2 dogs

1. Keep on top of menu planning, using freezer and storecupboard.
2. Declutter loft and garage.
3. Keep a list of all the good books I read from the library - I can never remember
them when I want to recommend them to others.
4. Watch interest rates and try to get the best deal for savings.
5. And try yet again to lose a stone in weight (Why does this one appear on
the list every year? )0 -
My 3 are SAVE SAVE SAVE
Unemployment benefit etc just wont cover the expenses. its very frightening. we all need to save what ever we can, even if its only £1 a week."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0 -

Wonderful thread.
My aims for 2009 are to;
Save for everything I want so I really appreciate it/graft for it so it is something worth buying. or else, don't buy it.
Plan meals better and more cooking from scratch and less throwing out of food.
Continue with good attitude that some things are more important than money and "things" aren't important.
Save money for my own flat, yippee!0
