    Great thread!

Um....well what will my resolutions be......

Well every year for about the last 20 years my NY resolution has been to stop biting my nails....! :o

On the OS front, I will, once I've finished my exams in April, spend a lot more time batch cooking, making homemade presents etc, and generally being better at everything OS!

I'd really like to teach myself to knit, and also make more use of my sewing machine.

We need to stop eating out as much (not that we do very often, but more than necessary).

I want to grow more of my own fruit and veg next year.

  • great thread 2011 is going to be the year we get ourselves sorted and back on track as we have let things slip.
This week I have been with out my debitcard as I had lost it so have been managing just with cash and it has realy opened my eyes as I am more aware of what I am spending so in 2011 i'm going to keep shoping money in a seperate purse and leave my card at home.I am going to transfer funds into my savings account to cover my phone, electric, gas bills as I am not happy with dd's as my money dose not go into my account at the same time each month and I end up getting hit with charges .
We are going to grow more of our own veg we did some this year,Toms runner beans salad stuff and herbs, but we want to grow Potatoes, onions, peppers, carrots.
Start knitting again years ago i used to do loads as with sewing I want to get back into crafting i've just got lazzy.
I love cooking and do usually cook from scratch i've never been one for ready meals,in fact my cupboards/fridge/frezzer are full but when my youngist dd looks in there she say"there's nothing to eat in this house" as i do not buy junk food. However she has a 5 monh old son and is making all his food herself a she "dose not want him to eat rubbish food" so I must have had some inpact on her and she has asked me to help her learn to cook as she is about to move into her own home:D
I have pointed her to this site as I think it will help her a lot on how to bugget.

This coming year I am determined to become more OS in order to save money for paying off the mortgage and retiring. I have some ideas of my own but was wondering what changes you are going to make to become more OS and save money.

    Mine so far are:
    1. Meal planning in order to make more use of the storecupbaord and freezer
    2. Grow some vegetables
    3. Aim to only have one spending day a week

    What are your OS resolutions?
We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

This year i want to be more organised maybe have some sort of diary so i know what im cooking/cleaning etc in advance of the usual panic i have due to lazyness & health issues most of the week. I want to work on the garden veggie/herb plot and actually see what i have inherited. I want to get down to one shop a month and meal plans etc in place for that.

    • I'm going to make an inventory of my toiletries, cosmetics and food on new years day so I know what I have to work through this year. Using stuff up = rewards :j
    • Weekly shopping lists, and remember that less is more ;)
    • Have a clothing budget. I took v. few of my clothes with me to uni and made do fine with one pair of jeggings, one jacket, one coat etc- i realised i don't need 10 coats!!! and won't be making any unplanned purchases.
    • Batch cook once a month and make the most of having the oven on.

My new years OS resolutions are to keep a spending diary, keep up with my moneysaving challenges(pound a day, grocery etc) and revamp all our expenses - especially personal insurances. I am off for four days next week so will be doing an inventory of all the cupboards and freezers and mealplanning around them. I will also be using the MSE mantra - do I really need it or is ot just because I want it before I buy anything,
I hope 2011 is kind to you all,
    Every days a School day!

More of a lurker here than a contributor - but you are all so nice I can lurk in peace lol!

    So mine are:

    More meal planning
Grow more of my own this year
Make more time for a bit of time out for myself - have a hot bath (and shut the door!) OS style. Bit of salt and some oil :D
