Just wanted to say - its a huge achievement what you have done so far, the biggest was admitting there are problems but you are already halfway there in deciding you want to resolve them :T:T:T

Totally agree with this, you can only solve a problem when you admit to yourself that there is one (I haven't quite admitted that to myself yet in terms of the housework and tidying that needs doing :D ). Don't try and do too much at once, you may last a couple of days then exhaust yourself which is so disheartening that you then feel worse. Do a little at a time, make lists of everything, breaking down each task into manageable tasks. I was reading the FLYlady website and her first tip is to get dressed every morning into full clothes, lace-up shoes (so you can't take them off easily) and makeup (if you wear it) and hair done. And also make your bed so you're not tempted to get back into it!
Exercise really helps, maybe every morning once you're up and dressed, take the dog for a walk to get your endorphins pumping and then come home and tackle a few things on your list.
Good luck, and there are always people around here for brilliant tips and conversation :)
:D**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

Oh Skipsmum - huge ((HUGS)) for you! Just wanted to agree with what the others have said - you have begun to do something - and every tiny step really will make a difference in the end.
It sounds as if your family will support you and that will really help I'm sure.
Best of luck - and remember to take it slowly. You will succeed in the end.

  • Hi everyone - lots of great ideas here, and I do feel like I need to get organised, as this Christmas I've been all over the place! Anyway here's my list:

    • Hit my saving goal of £7,000 in a year;
    • Finally get to under 10 stone in weight
    • continue doing pilates and go back to dance class
    • go running a couple of times a week
    • get back to flylady and stick to it (might do that right now)!
    • Put more effort into my career and aim for promotion at the end of the year
    • Stake a claim on part of our communal garden for a veggie patch (my neighbours have already done this)
    • Visit my family at least once every other month (they live quite far away).
That's it for now - I'm sure I'll think of more later!
    March 2016 - £178,914.59; July 2017 £146,160.38
Mortgage end Sept 2043; Target - pay off by March 2022, now Sept 2021
    Target balance July 2018 £112,560
  • I agree - baby steps soon turn into huge steps. Tackle one thing each day, no matter how small so it becomes a habit. Even if it's as tiny as making the bed or putting 2p into a savings jar.

Hi I'd like to join too. In 2010 I'd like to be more organised by

sorting our money out and paying off our debts.
meal planning and making sure DH takes a packed lunch wherever possible.
Organising the house more so we all have a routine that's stuck to.
Continuing with the de-cluttering till its up-to date.
    Exercising and eating healthier.
Once everything is in place I'd like to start job hunting.
  • ok here's my list for 2010

    1. Lose weight (at least two stone).
    2. Get out for a walk at least two evenings each week.
    3. Decorate the living room and my bedroom.
    4. Take a close look at our finances and start budgeting.
    5. Complete the cross stitch and knitting projects I've started.
    6. New raised bed for the garden and plant veggies earlier this year.
    7. Stop swearing and nagging!
    8. No impulse buys!
    9. Bookmark this thread and keep checking it for inspiration and motivation.

  • hey Skipsmum, welcome back!
You are doing a great job by being you and liek others have said "facing up" or accepting that you need to do something, and taking control can be a great motivator!
Im new here, and love to log on each chance I get, and the amount of support, and dare I say it "friends" is amazing, truly amazing.
You have alot to cope with, I also had PTSD and depression some years ago, its seriously hard going, but a fantastic councellor and supportive other half saved my life (and I had only been married 6 weeks at the time :(.
Its fantastic that you took the plunge and started to get sorted, and I am sure you will see it all through, specially if you stick around here, there is so much support and help available on these boards.
Best of luck and big hugs
