My new years plan is:

To sort out finances and 'catch up' after christmas and 'live within our means'. We forget that we only have 1 wage for 2 adults and two children sometimes and spend what we haven't got-we must stop this. We need to save for a new freezer when we have caught up so i can freeze all my allotment veg.

I need to clean all the pvc on windows where the condensation has turned it black.

I need to acheive my target on the grocery challenge as i've been awful this year.

I need to start thinking of 'me' more and stop worrying what other people think.

If i think of any more i'll post them.
• Hi All

Me again for the second time today - just popping in to say Im starting as I mean to go on. Have gotten rid of said Christmas junk this morning (ie all boxes/rubbish/plastic) and have cleaned the kitchen, bathroom and toilet out as well as tidying bedroom. Now I am off to tackle my boys bedroom (by boys I mean my son and step sons room that they share) so wish me luck but cant decide whether to ebay bits or free cycle the lot. Will sort clothes on another day as I get a feeling the toys will take a while in themselves and needless to say coffee is on and my iPod is charging! if you hear no word from me by this time tomorrow please send a search party.

Have also checked my bank and I'm only £264 overdrawn not £275 like I thought so that's marginally better than I presumed but will ring catalogue tomorrow or in the new year to get some payment slips sent out.

Have also sat and worked out my money that I get monthly and after all my bills are paid I should be left with about £200 give or take a few pennies but this doesn't include food yet so hoping I can set a target of £140 --- this is me, partner, Ben, and pets (2 terrapins and a JRT) so will attempt it this month and adjust accordingly. This means I can pay £60 towards debts well more like £40 to bank and £20 to catalogue but as soon as the overdraft is paid off I can put it all towards the catalogue and they should both be gone fairly soon. (my thinking was the bank charges £1 a DAY that Im in my overdraft and the catalogue charges £12 a MONTH) but not planning on missing payments but still dont want charges!

ROSIEBEN - Thanks hun. I had an idea about what was happening body wise because I was having blood loss before but had a scan and they said twins were fine, but it got heavier and I was put on bed rest for a weekend and then taken for a repeat scan and so I had already talked myself into a worst case scenario but was still upsetting. That was back in August and have come to the idea that it wasn't meant to be and they are now my angels :A, Him upstairs obviously had better plans for them. :o

Right am off now to tackle the boys bedroom.

wish me luck! and FYI Im loving this thread already!
Time to find me again
• Excellent thread. I think writing things down - and then declaring it to all old stylers - is a good motivator.

This year I need to
• Meal plan properly. I started 2009 very organised with meals and cooked huge portions of various meals every sunday and then froze them to use over the week. I really need to start doing that again.
• I MUST ring a charity shop to come and collect all the things stored in our shed.
• I should sort through my wardrobe and stop buying more unnecessary clothes...and shoes...and goodness knows what!
• I dont have much debt thank goodness but my credit card bill is slowly creeping up so I need to get on top of that.
• My main goal for 2010 is to spend more time with my daughter. I am hoping to reduce my hours at work as much as is affordable because my work/ life balance has gone all to pot this year.
Sammy kaye. Sorry to hear you have had a rough time. I am more of a 'lurker' than a poster on these boards but I have followed a lot of your posts with interest. You have a lovely, positive attitude and I'm sure 2010 will be a good year for you.

Just lost two posts lets try once more! I have a mini filofax that I got for Xmas last year. Before that I used a cheaper version and was quite happy with it but someone decided to buy me the overpriced version. I got the 2010 diary insert this year so am well chuffed. I would say it has been my best friend all year keeping me on track with menus, shopping lists finances, birthdays ect. I have an asda basics memo pad in the front flap beside my basic menu/shopping list. I have family measurements, curtain drops ect in there as well. It came with plain insert cards with tabs so I put the months on each one and with a list of notable dates and things to do that month(thanks to the thread that tells you what to to each month). I put no more than 6 tasks each day on each page of the diary as I think we all put a lot of pressure on our selves to be superhuman. Dont know what Id do without it

• Right. I don’t post much but hoping that if I start then it will get me more motivated to do the following in 2010.
· Do a proper budget and stick to it to save up more money for eventual house move
· Keep on top of meal planning – Fairly good at this already but could be better. First step is to use up some of what is in the cupboards
· De-clutter – Mostly the loft (Seems to be a theme with people so far) as it has turned into a bit of a dumping ground
· Finish all the little DIY jobs around the house – Nothing major just lots of little thing that never seem to get done
· Have more days out with the family and organise my days off better to make the most use of them
· Make a will
I am sure there are a thousand more but if I can get the above done I will be happy as they are the main things.

Debt-free and Proud!
Good evening all, I hope you have enjoyed todays bonus day off? Well my list for getting organised in 2010 is:

1. Meal plan and get my grocery budget and weight undercontrol
2. Actually stick to a grocery challenge for at least 1 month!!!!
3. Sort out my spare room ( am thinking and hoping this time next year I will be thinking about turning it into a nursery ; ) )
4. Sort out and start listing anything that is not used regularly on ebay.
5. Take lunch to work EVERY day, I know I am shouting, shouting at myself, lol.
6. Start flylady again and actually stick to it long term.

That is all I can think of for now, I am sure there are many, many more! eek, don't want to put myself of with long lists.

Good luck everyone
