Here's my list
Get rid of my debt, managed to get myself back in debt which I am not proud of but am already on to it.;)
Sign up for a MSE challenge and actually complete it, managed to spectacularly fail every other one I've signed up for.:o
The one I'm going for is 'Turn £100 into £10,000 in 2010'....in for a penny and all that :rotfl:
Continue decluttering ala Flylady and keeping some semblence of order to my messy home.
Decorate and get the jobs that are outstanding done in the house.
Be ruthless re bills, find the best deals.
Shop more online use, Quidco and Topcashback.
Buy meat and veg boxes online and see how this affects food shopping budget.
I have a terrible habit of buying 'reduced' food and not having enough room to store it and it goes rotten and has to be binned....Yep I know, guilty as chargedso plan to change this.
Look after my health, 2009 saw me knocked literally off my feet by chronic illness (Lymes Disease), still slowly recovering and plan to do whatever I can to regain my health. What I did realise was how useless so much stuff is/was in my life. Nothing like lying in bed for 3 months to sharpen the mind and refocus on life's essentials.
To say I've been humbled by my experience is an understatement and I hope to carry on with my plan to live life fully and not take anything for granted.:A
I want some more friends....I plan to find some this ensuing year....hello everyone :hello::D.
What I have done which worked or was an achievement in 2008.
Kept with Mse flylady, makes a huge difference and immeasurably supportive.:happylove
Carpetted the hall, landing and living room, been living without carpet for years.
Bought some comfortable furniture, I cannot tell you the difference this has made to quality of life instead of perching or sinking into knackered sofas and seats, plus backache has gone. All bought on glitches so moneysaving too.;)
Realised that I cannot do my job for the next decade, I need something in another direction.
Started selling on ebay again, for some reason had a pathological block which meant I couldn't actually bring myself to press the 'sell your item' button....:rotfl:, all sorted now.:D
Planned christmas accordingly and managed to get almost all my christmas shopping done before December.
Became a lot more happier with 'my lot' rather than being on an eternal hunt for that elusive 'something'.
Good luck to all in 2010, I really hope its a better year for all of us. xxxDFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

I have been reading all your goals with interest so will add mine too:D
In 2010 I want to:- Raise my baby frugally. Baby due in May will be b/f and in reusables and I am borrowing/making what I can to reduce the costs as this is our first child and everything is sooooo expensive
- Save £5000 by the end of the year. This is to be achieved through sales of unwanted stuff on ebay, car boot, cutting back unecessary spending and using all nectar, advantage, tesco points, saving stamps and vouchers for all spends in December including food/alcohol and gifts. This is a toughie! I would be happy with £3000 but £5000 is the ultimate target
- Reduce electricity and gas usage. Would like to see if I can get one of those things that measures usage or start reading my outside meters
- Reduce diesel spends
- Achieve my Live on £10,500 budgets
- Clear out and organise loft (will have to wait til after baby born)
- Make a will when we become parents
- Re lean how to knit and make things for baby/gifts
- Start a patchwork quilt for baby. May take me a while so will make big enough to fit a junior bed:rolleyes:
- Shop around for insurance quotes when renewals due in 2010
- Cut back on grocery spending as still too high through more effective meal plans, using stores and using cash only
- Keep filling the spare change pots and do not open until 1st Dec
Good luck all in achieving your goals:D
XSSave £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
Make £2021 extra income - £99.750 -
Every year I make the same resolution, yep, you know the one, well next year I'm resolving not to lose weight in the hope that I won't keep that one either
:D
My other resolutions are
1) To work at the Grocery Challenge and get my food spending down.
2) To not throw away any food. I'm pretty good at this generally but sometimes can't be bothered to use up every single thing. Must try harder.
3) Finish my crocheted granny squares blanket and make a crochet bag.
Btw congratulations Xspender! How exciting to have a new baby to plan for.0 -
I'm going to think of mine as I go along, so far I would like to
- Pay no interest or charges for debt/credit to anyone in 2010...just thought of that:money:
- Get my house unpacked, EVERY box inc ones I've moved with twice
- Be more organised in general
- Get our small back garden nice, try growing some of the lizards veg
- Reduce gas/electric usages, watching it very carefully now
- Get enough cashback/savings etc to buy my new dining table & bed
- Declutter, I have started
but much to do
- Get back into my daily routine once we're all sorted, I used to have the house visitor safe before 11am every day
- Eat home made food more, fell off priorities with moving etc which is doing my bank balance and weight no good
- It's not a bargain if a) I won't use it b) It's more than half price
- Use up the toiletries before buying any more, 8 bottles of radox plus other bath stuff found
- Work out how to manage with a small, single freezer better as no space to put an additional one
One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
Hi all
Can I join in - maybe it will help me to actually stick to my resolutions this year!
There are a load of things I would like to change but that's the problem - too many challenges and nothing gets achieved. So here goes with the most important.....
In 2010 I WILL.....
1 Lose 3 stone by:- Eating more healthily and drinking less alcohol
- Taking the poor dog for a walk at least on the weekends as I work long hours in the week - instead of leaving it to my OH every day (it's not like I don't need the exercise)
- Meal planning and using or freezing leftovers
- Not making unnecessary trips to the supermarket (almost a daily habit)
- Making more free time for doing nice things at the weekend by.....
- Decluttering the house and keeping on top of the cleaning through the week
That'll do for starters I think and thanks for the tip about using a cheap diary to plan and monitor progress - I'm off to the supermarket now to buy one.....(old habits die hard but I guess it's not 2010 yet!:rotfl::rotfl:)Old style weight loss challenge, start date 14/7/13, starting wt: 14 st 12, goal 12lb in 11 weeks:
Total weight loss to date: 12lb0 -
Mine is going to sound very harsh but it really needs doing this year
1* No more buying *stuff* off Ebay.
2* Walk into town. Its only a 20min walk, but costs 1.65 on the bus.
3* Keep on the store cupboard challenge till it down to a more manageable amount.
4* Carry on buying only marked down fruit and veg.
5*No fashion items this year, I really do not need them.
6*Buy no bathroom supplies/creams/lotion/potions till I have used everything up.
7* Have 500 pounds saved by this time next year, I know its not alot, but better than nothing as it stands at the moment.
8* remember my sealed pot when I get back from the shop.
9* put a pound a day in a different pot for the 365 in a year challenge.
10* no buying and thing new for a year *compact* buy second hand or do without.
11* recycle more
12*try to start a collage course hopefully meet a few new peopleEbay 13........1583.46/2000.00 Amazon sales 54/50 Etsy sales 63/50

Had about 20 resolutions so had to squash a few together!
1. Live life rather than watch it zoom past me
2. Plan, plan, plan and then do,do,do it - stop faffing and procrastinating about it
3. Live slower and simpler - enjoy garden, kids, hobbies, reading - all without spending much money
4. Put time and effort into relationships with friends, family and God
5. Take care of me as well as everybody else
Sorry if these sound a bit heavy but sometimes I need a gold old kick up the backside to get me going!Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly
Emergency fund £1000/£1000
Savings for big things £90170 -
Tibbie's_mum wrote: »Last year I bought an A4 day to page diary, so I could be more organised by:
1) keeping a spendng diary
2) having a daily to do list
3) ensuring I made of note of important dates, like library books going back, MOTs due etc so that I don't have unexpected expenses
4) menu planning
Needless to say the diary was never put to use, so this year I'm going to make a real effort to use a diary effectively for all the above reasons
So much to me keeping to this last year.......this will have to be a rollover year, all resolutions remain the same with the addition of cutting down the alcohol, gettting more exercise and doing more as a family.0 -
Oooh there are some good resolutions on here! might need to spend a day going through the whole thread again to pick up ideas!
