I'd report it to a newspaper - would make an interesting story about how scammers are rife on ebay. Only problem is it would probably attract a lot more scammers!0

Be very careful tipping off bidders, while your intentions are good its classed as auction interfering and for some reason ebay seem to get more upset about that kind of things than people selling dodgy items. They probably havent pulled the auction because for one thing he states its a box & secondly ebay rarely care about what people are selling. Ive reported copy DVDs/CDs etc and other scams and not once have they been pulled. As long as ebay get their fees that appears to be all they care about.
If you DO intend to tip people off about what theyre bidding on, dont do it on your regular ID or you risk getting NARU'd & your own auctions ruined in retaliation. Create a brand new one specially for this purpose, then if its banned it doesnt matter

It depends on the content of the email, for example, (having gone over this ground before), the following would not be classified as auction interference.
Hello,
Firstly, apologies for the intrusion, however, I noticed that you are bidding on an EMPTY xxxxxxxx box, and I was hoping that you could give me some advice.
I work in a major electrical/games/phone store and have access to plenty of empty xxxxxxxx boxes and as you appear to be a collector, I wondered if you could tell me if all EMPTY xxxxxxxx boxes fetch such high prices as the current high bids on this item, or is it just specific boxes that appeal to collectors?
Thank you in advance. The MSE Dictionary

That is indeed totally different & I cant see how ebay would object to that one :A 0 -
hehe, I can just picture a genuine bidder reading a message like the one above, and doing a Roger-Rabbit style eyes-out-on-stalks moment!0
