I think you might be right, can't have another season of United gloating though. That was a very bad mistake. I'd be sick if I ever did that at Oldham. Poor you!
Had a pretty good day financially so far. After a few problems I managed to pay a bit off my credit cards. £70 off MBNA and £150 Capital One which is now my highest APR. I paid £10 each off my 3 debit accounts.
I've been on the cashback sites and ordered contact lenses from GetLenses. got 90 pairs of dailies for £55.78 and I'll get 10% back of that. Checked my earnings thoug and it's tracking for £11.16, sounds like more than 10% to me!
. Normally pay £66 for 3 months worth of contact lenses so I'm already saving £10.
Ordered a bit of shopping online at Asda, that should get me £5 back. Only bought stuff I couldn't get at Aldi or just don't like from there.
Went out earlier and got my haircut for £7, needed a printer as well and my mum said they were doing printers for £20 but she could get a 5% discount on that, ended up only paying £15 for the printer including ink as well, bargain!
Been around the travel agents as well and got a few brochures to look at, give me some ideas for summer and winter!
I'm going to try the daily clicks now and anything else I can do to get myself some extra money!Keep the Faith!0 -
Ah thats good, it's a nice feeling when you know you've made the payments for the month.
I meant to say earlier about your shopping bill - I know it's difficult because obviously it's you and your grandad, but is there any way you can get that shopping bill down? I spend about £80 a month for me and bf, obviously it's difficult if your grandad has expensive tastes or whatever as he's the one give you the roof over your head!
Well done on the contact lenses, the cost can really mount up. I only wear one in one eye (one long sighted eye and one short sighted eye lol - freak!) but it still costs me about a tenner a month. Do you get branded lenses or are they like generic ones?
And OMG where the hell did you get a printer +ink for £15 quid? That is brilliant?
Hope you enjoyed your clicking and holiday searching.. don't forget to look for cashback when you buy your holiday!

I'm afraid it's me with the expensive tastes! I find it hard to plan anything foodwise, maybe I could give it a go in future but I don't want to feel like I'm dictating to my grandad if you get me. I kinda just go to the supermarket and think what I might need!
I get branded ones but they seem to be the cheapest, think I'm getting the same as I would at Specsavers. Never thought you could wear one lense without it causing discomfort?
Just got in from having a kickaround, £3 subs for pitch hire. I've lent my mum £30 and my sis £20 but I'll be getting that back at the end of the week when they get paid.
Bought some football tickets today also, got a couple of tickets for tomorrows game for £35, mate is buying one off me tomorrow, taking a couple of mates there too so they're paying my petrol. Got a ticket for saturdays game as well, £18.Keep the Faith!0 -
Hi Hallam!! Good feeling getting some of those credit cards down!! I'm aiming to change all my DDs to the beginning of the month if I can - most of them are already, and to make my overpayment at the beginning too...that way I HAVE to keep to a budget in order to balance my account each month...
I've challenged myself to have zero in my account at the end of each month....obviously I am hoping that means I am actually in the black and therefore have extra money to throw at my credit card!!! At the moment it looks like I will be a couple of pounds up by the end of Jan...so that goes across to my online savings and will then be thrown at the CC!!
For Feb I have planned a £150 overpayment on the CC (need to get rid of £2150 by May!!!!) and any ebay sales will go on it too!
Chelsea will come through to be top 2 by end of season!!!!2024 Challenges- Grocery Budget (January £0/£300)

Well I wear dailies but only in one eye if you see what I mean, so my prescription lasts me double the time!
I quite like lending people money actually because it's a nice boost when you get it back lol! Not too much spending then, football tickets are dear but you gotta have a life!
Nellis... no swearing in blue on these forums lol :rotfl: and well done on the debt free planning!

I've had quite a time of it since I got home, had my mum on the phone worried about the cat, she wasn't walking at all on one of her legs, taken her to the vets tonight and the vet said she most likely got nerve damage in her leg, there's no feeling at all! Chances are she'll make a full recovery but there is a good chance it might be permanent and she might have to have the leg amputated. It's kinda knocked me for six.
Kinda hit us pretty hard, quite shocking to hear really. Taking her back tomorrow to see if there's any improvement, fingers crossed there is. The vet fees cost £54.30 but I'm not really too bothered about that.
Other than that at work I spent £4.10 on a magazine and £2.02 on a coffee from Starbucks.
Yesterday was a NSD. Didn't spend anything at the airport and just went straight to bed after work so had no time to spend then.
Tuesday night I went to S!!!!horpe for the football. Got £15 petrol mony from the people I took, also got £17.50 for a ticket I bought someone. I filled the car up with £30 of petrol and got a couple of drinks for £2 for the journey. Had already bought the ticket earlier and my drinks were all paid for me, just got a burger on the way back for around £2.50.
I hope everything goes well with yor debt plans nellis, sounds like your doing good to me. £2000 is a lot of money but I'm sure if you work hard at it you'll achieve it.
Wish I only needed to wear one contact lense, would save me quite a bit! Got my contact lense order yesterday so only took two days to come and I'm saving myself a good amount every 3 months.
I'm growing tired of football at the moment, it's not fun, fans overreacting, players not performing. Got a ticket for saturday but I don't fancy going. I need a new fun hobby!
I'm back in work at 4am, tired! Need to do a few things this weekend, need to buy a coat now my current has decided not to sip up anymore!Keep the Faith!0 -
Aw the poor thing do you know what she did to it? I hope she gets better, mind you cats are very adaptable aren't they. My grandma's cat lost her leg when she got older, but she still used to manage to climb up the same conifer tree that she always used to. It is a shock though to realise they are not well.
Love the way the filter blocks out part of s!!!!horpe hehe. Keep the faith with the footy you'll get back into it - you play us on the 7th too, 5.20pm kick off really annoying!
You've done well with the spending too, thats great. My mate at work had a really good idea today - she said she was gonna pretend she was a smoker and put aside the price of a pack of fags every day as a way of saving lol, what a random thing to come up with but can see how it might work!
Give my love to your cat xThs signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it...

Sorry to hear about your cat Hallam!
So how did you do in January with the finances? Did you get anymore off the CCs?2024 Challenges- Grocery Budget (January £0/£300)

The cat is much, much better today, so relieved and happy! She can now move her leg and paw and she's got feeling again. She's still limping quite badly but she's improving all the time. She's been back to the vets, they're amazed how much she has improved but have warned her leg may never be fully back to normal. I'm just thankful she's making a good recovery, she wasn't eating either but that soon changed when we put some sardines infront of her!

Aye it's not far off our game against you. I'm playing in a game against Leicester's Fans team before the proper game. Should be a good laugh, maybe Sky could come and film that before the evening game!
yeah I think that's a good idea, it's money you would have spent that now SHOULD be available. If I tried that with the food I used to buy for work I'd probably be debt free by the end of the month!
January has been a pretty good month overall, My MBNA account has gone up, had to use the card in the last couple of days before payday. This month should be a lot more manageable.
I've paid quite a bit off my Capital One card and I'm going to concentrate on paying that off first. I've been looking at the debt as a whole and it's not really working so I'm going to concentrate on paying this card off and I've given myself a target of it being all paid off by the end of April.
Today I've spent 90p on a newspaper but I got a free bottle of water worth £1.55 for buying the paper. Also spent £1.45 on some mints and a drink.
Happy to be home now, not in work until tuesday now so I've all weekend off, doesn't happen very often. Might be going out tonight but I'm very tired so I don't know yet, see how I feel later.Keep the Faith!0 -
Aw I'm so glad she's better :j I wonder what she did? Maybe fell out of a tree? They do some home with some funny injuries. There's a stray cat that lives near my mum that all the neighbours sort of share, she wanders between everyone. She turned up a while ago with a big gash on her back, it hadn't improved after a few days so my mum took her to the vets. Apprently she'd been bitten either by a squirrel or a smallish fox, the vet said and it was all infected. Poor thing.
I think tackling the worst debts first as fast as you can is the way forward, have you done the snowball thing? It's kinda what its based on, just pay the minum on all your debts and then throw everything at the worst one till it's gone, then chuck the same money at the next one.
I'm shattered too, end of January though it's been a long month!
