A good family car for 3000 pounds
I am gonna be having a baby soon. I currently drive a 2 door clio. I have 2k in finances and I might put 1k on my 0% credit card. and pay off in next 2 months.
I am wondering what will be a good 4 door family car for the 4 of us.
It should be cheap to run pref diesel , but even petrol is cool.
<60k miles on it
And preferably under 3-4 years old.
Am I asking for too much here?????
One thing is for sure that I am not gonna buy a renault laguna after I have read stuff on the forum about it.
So it will be something japanese/german etc.
Now I am really asking for too much
Please help! :A

Getting a 3/4 yeear odl car with low mileage and diesel within your budget is not easy. I suggest looking for something a tad older ... my suggestion is a Focus TDCi.If you found my comment helpful, please click the 'Thanks' button below :T0

i would also recommend an older focus.maybe one about 5 years old. at the price and age you want you will get either high mileage or low quality.
i wouldnt rule out petrol models either, petrol is much cheaper than diesel at the moment and fuel economy sint too bad in the focus....work permit granted!0 -
Mileage isn't important. Condition is.0

Respect for ruling out the Renault. Very wise.0

You would probably get this:

For 2.5k and then you could buy a very good 3 year warranty with the other £500I think....0 -

Hmm I'm never convinced with these warranties. But others could offer better advice on the pros and cons and wher to best buy a warranty.0 -

Just exactly what I was going to say.
I bought a 2003 Focus TDCi privately for £3.5k and its very reliable and cheap to run and insure.“Hardware: The parts of a computer system that can be thrown out of the nearest window!”0 -
I was going to say Ford Focus TDCI also. Dont discount diesel !0

honda accord.
and isn't petrol cheaper ? unless you do monster mileage?Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0 -
Mazda 3 series is one choice late 04 model for a touch over £3k. Or if you're a little braver, an alfa romeo 147.0
